☀Staying chilled at the Village Shop😎
Thanks to our new refrigerators, the shop is stocking a wide variety of chilled items and keeping veg fresher during the heatwaves. Ideal for quick, light lunches and warm summer evenings, chilled food and drinks to tempt you include handy ham trimmings, mackerel pâté, Somerset goat’s cheese and delicious traditional pork pies handmade by our baker… plus, in the drinks fridge, lemon iced tea, San Pellegrino sparkling orange and lemon, and Fentiman’s ginger beer and elderflower juices.

(Psst! It's also cool in the Coffee Shop if you just want to get out of the heat!)

☀JULY WINE PROMO AT THE VILLAGE SHOP☀
This month let yourself be transported to the glorious cape vineyards of South Africa. Journey’s End is a leading family winery in Stellenbosch, whose Sixty Barrels Chardonnay is deliciously ripe, fruity and toasty from the oak. Meanwhile from the western cape, Bees Knees Chenin Blanc Viognier is a zesty white that's causing a buzz with many rave reviews - ripe and racy with tropical fruit and honeysuckle aromas. 🌞 's arrived, and with it some sensational offers to look out for in the Wine Cellar. Both of our rosé wines - Cabalié and Moulin de Pontfract - are currently on promotion at a very drinkable £10.49 a bottle - and delicious they are too. If you love rosé, make sure you pick some up before the weekend!

And talking of Open Gardens... 🪷a quick reminder that the Village Shop is open from 9am to 4.30pm on Sunday for sandwiches, drinks, crisps, ice cream, pastries and pies - and we are also a raffle ticket selling station with some amazing prizes. 🌞

🤗MEET THE VILLAGE SHOP VOLUNTEERS!🤗

Meet Izzy, 17, one of our youngest volunteers at the Village Shop. Having achieved her bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards, she is now working towards her gold award in volunteering. This requires her to volunteer for a year, so she works for us on Sunday mornings, once a month. Izzy is in charge of the Coffee Shop and also spends half the morning on the till.

The Village Shop is always looking for friendly faces to join our team. The volunteers are vital to the smooth running and success of the shop. We're at the heart of the community: a place for locals to shop, chat and connect - and it's a fun place to volunteer.

We'd love more help serving customers at the till or coffee shop, stocking shelves and sharing a smile and a conversation. You'll get to meet people and be an active part of village life, either taking a regular shift or working on an ad hoc basis. Ask in the shop or email Jenny Stewart on [email protected] or Julie on [email protected] if you would like to join this fun and friendly group of villagers.
