We're out early today hiding books but also taking on the Totnes Library Summer Book Quest! This morning the girls wanted to do the pigeon counting challenge, on 9 so far!

We're half way to our target on books read and have been picking up our stickers to crack the code!

It's not too late to sign up to the Book Quest run in all libraries put on by Libraries Unlimited.

💙 Another very happy reader today! 💙

Receiving this photo really made my afternoon along with her parents' comment too.

Over 300 books have been hidden so far this year which is amazing. However, I have only heard from 5 families.

Sharing that you have found one doesn't necessarily mean a full photo of your child with the book. Maybe the place you found it, the front cover of the book or just a message to share the reaction of your children when they found the book.

It would really mean alot to us to hear more from the families finding the books and it definitely helps keep our energy up whilst book hiding in this sweltering heat 🥵

This summer holiday Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Companyare teaming up with to bring a little reading adventure to Totnes! 🎉

We’re hiding hundreds of children’s books around Totnes, and even on the Round Robin bus! 🚌📖

It’s a fun community initiative to encourage children and young people to discover the joy of reading and maybe find a new favourite book along the way.

How not to be a pirate by ! 🦜🏴‍☠️

I have been waiting for this new release and I'm so excited to have got it in time to read before our school book fairs for this upcoming academic year.

Take a look and believe me when I say this book is going to be so popular!! It's funny, amazingly written, eye catching and is sure to have some twists along the way.

Jenny knows who her audience is so well and writes with them in mind. This style celebrates reading for pleasure but also equips our young readers with new vocabulary, an understanding of story telling and encourages them to use their imagination to get completely absorbed in the book.

It's such a pleasure seeing all of the children who have found a book during our Totnes Summer Book Hunt 2026! Please continue to send in these photos of children finding/reading the books or any messages of your thoughts/feedback about the initiative, it means alot.

We have currently hidden over 350 books and with a few more hundred to hide, there's plenty of chances left to find a book. 👀
