Rotary Power Sweeping - SnapLok UK Rotary Power Sweeping are the SnapLok Master Distributors for Europe, selling professional rotary chi We look forward to working with you.

SnapLok designed, engineered and patented the original ButtonLok system back in 2001 within the US, since then other rotary power sweeping companies have either copied or modified and then claimed as their own. SnapLok created the power sweeping industry more than 15 years ago and have brought their SnapLok equipment to professional chimney sweeps in the UK, Ireland and all over Europe. The SnapLo

k range includes flexible power sweeping rods made of solid nylon in 8mm, 12mm, 15mm and 18mm in thickness, various sized rotary heads and brushes, birds nest removers and tar/creosote removal heads, plus a range of adaptors for other rod and brush types. SnapLok also provide a full range of rotary power sweeping equipment for biomass and pellet heating system flues. Rotary Power Sweeping also sell our own range of professional chimney sweeping equipment and accessories to make the job of chimney sweeping easier and cleaner, this includes heavy duty denim hearth sheets, floor runners, fireplace props, torches and mirrors, gaffa tape, stove magnets, register plate magnets, glass scrapers and carpet overshoes. Rotary power Sweeping also design and manufacture our own cctv chimney inspection camera kits, which are designed to be integrated with the SnapLok rotary power rods. As professional chimney sweeps ourselves, we can give full expert advice on all brands of chimney rotary power sweeping equipment as we have tried and tested all types of chimney sweeping rods, good and bad!

RPS Honing Chains: Tungsten Carbide Cutting Power in 2 Sizes

Not all honing chains are built the same. The RPS Honing Chains use actual tungsten carbide cutting teeth, meaning you get a genuinely aggressive, durable cut rather than the compromised performance you often see from inferior alternatives. Available in 6" and 8" sizes, these chains are built to handle the demands of professional rotary power sweeping work without letting you down mid-job.

Whether you're working on a standard flue or need that extra reach with the 8" option, having the right size makes a real difference to the quality of the clean. 🔧 Which size do you find yourself reaching for most often on the job? And if you haven't yet tried tungsten carbide-tipped chains over standard options, what's been holding you back? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.

Why Professional Sweeps Choose SnapLok Over the Competition

Most rotary rod systems look similar on paper. The difference shows up on the job, and that is where SnapLok consistently pulls ahead. The Dual Button connection requires less rotation to engage than any competing system, and once locked, both buttons physically cannot be pressed simultaneously, making accidental disengagement during rotary cleaning impossible by design. That is not a marketing claim; it is a mechanical reality built into every rod.

Beyond the connection mechanism, SnapLok backs its engineering with over 200 cleaning heads and a material standard that competitors simply do not match. Solid nylon rods with stainless steel ferrules are not a premium upgrade here; they are the baseline. As a rule, when comparing SnapLok against alternatives, look at the materials and the technical design before the price tag. "Buy cheap, buy twice" is a phrase every experienced sweep knows from personal cost. What is your go-to test when evaluating new equipment for your kit? Drop your answer in the comments below.

Your half face respirator is only as good as how you store it. 🛡️

Contaminated or degraded filters put your lungs at risk on every job. Clean the mask after each use, inspect the valves, and store it in a dedicated case away from dust, solvents, and direct sunlight to preserve filter integrity. 🔧

Replace pre-filters regularly and never compress the facepiece during storage.

Half Face Respirator Care: What Most Sweeps Get Wrong

A respirator that isn't stored or maintained correctly between jobs is a respirator that can't be trusted to protect you. Filter contamination, face seal degradation, and blocked exhalation valves are all avoidable problems, yet they're far more common on site than they should be.

Clean the mask after every job. Soot, dust, and moisture left on the silicone face piece will break down the seal over time. Wipe the interior and exterior with a damp cloth, check the exhalation valves are free and unobstructed, and inspect the head harness for any signs of wear or stretching. For Sundstrom SR100 users, the membrane kit is worth keeping as a spare because a damaged membrane directly affects filter performance. Pre-filters (SR221) take the first hit from particulate loading and should be replaced regularly rather than waiting until airflow is visibly restricted. Store the mask in a dedicated case such as the Sundstrom SR230 Storage Box, away from direct sunlight, chemical vapours, and temperature extremes. Leaving a half face respirator loose in a bag or van shelf is one of the most reliable ways to shorten its service life. Do you follow a set inspection routine before each job, or is it something you do when the mask starts to feel different? Drop your approach in the comments. 🛡️

Are you choosing your respiratory protection based on habit, or based on actual risk? 🫁

In chimney sweep environments, soot and fine particulates are a daily hazard. A half mask respirator offers solid P3 filtration for most jobs. A PAPR system delivers powered, positive-pressure protection where exposure is prolonged or conditions are confined. Knowing the difference matters. ⚠️

Both STS half masks and PAPR units are available at Rotary Power Sweeping, with options to suit every working environment and budget. 🛡️

PAPR vs Half Mask: Which Respirator Do You Actually Need?

Soot and fine particulate matter in chimney sweep environments are a serious occupational health risk, and choosing the wrong level of respiratory protection can have long-term consequences. The core difference comes down to this: a half mask respirator (such as the STS TS01 or Sundstrom SR100) relies entirely on the seal between the mask and your face to filter airborne particles, making fit and filter grade absolutely critical. A PAPR (Powered Air-Purifying Respirator), like the STS Synch11VP3 or the full-face STS Synch01VP3, uses a motor-driven blower to push air through a VP3 filter and deliver it to the wearer, significantly reducing breathing resistance and eliminating reliance on a tight facial seal. For sweeps working in confined, heavily contaminated flue environments, a PAPR consistently offers a higher and more reliable protection factor. Half masks remain a practical, cost-effective choice for lighter-duty work, provided you're using a P3-rated filter and the mask fits correctly.

So which is right for your setup? If you're regularly working in high-exposure environments or find a half mask uncomfortable over long jobs, a PAPR is worth serious consideration. 💨 Have you made the switch to powered air, or do you still rely on a half mask? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
