We are OPEN today, Sunday 16th Aug, from 10am til about 2.30pm, (may stay open longer if there's folk about!)

We've got some lovely new pieces in, including gorgeous jewellery by Cath Waters. She calls it "wearable art"! Her beautiful artwork is printed on lightweight, tactile aluminium with sterling silver chains and fittings, all hypoallergenic and so easy to wear, either all dressed up or with a t-shirt and jeans.

A good few other shops in Thurso town centre are also open today, including JA Mackay , Kiln store , Buttress's, Highland Hospice Shop, Tall Tales , Heather's, McBeath's Jewellers, and 4UBistro. (Trader's hours may vary think most are open around 10am onwards)

It's August and time for the puffins to head back out to sea til next spring! These amazing wee birds spend all winter on the waves. So many folk, local and visitors, love going to spot them on the Caithness cliffs during their short spell on land.

My "Puffinfest" print has been very popular this summer too. We had some lovely visitors from Germany return to the shop this year, to say how happy they are with the copy they bought last year.

I was numbering up and signing somemore prints and I've realised there are only 4 prints left in the large limited edition! So if you were thinking about getting one, I wouldn't wait too long!

The wee 8x8" version is an open edition and will still be available. Both sizes are available mounted or in a frame of your choice.

This week some scaffolding has gone up in front of the shop, but we're still open our usual hours!
We've actually had some super busy days this week, with loads of prints and artwork finding new homes.

We love to see people take a wee piece of Caithness with them out of the county, and even off around the world too.💛🌍😊

Lots of lovely new gift and card deliveries have arrived too, so we've been busy putting those on the shelves.

Open 10am til 5pm as usual today, pop in for a browse or a blether! 😁

Had a fab day teuchter-ing aboot at Friday's pre show day at Caithness County Show, which is held in Thurso this year. I was delighted to be asked to judge the art section in the industrial tent. There was some lovely work on show, it was very difficult to choose the winners and some of the placings were very, very, close!

I spent the rest of the day watching and helping with friends' horses, and catching up with lots of folk. Including two of our wonderful local suppliers Marks & Pencils and Kelly Munro. Check them and many other fab makers in the local produce tent!

A huge effort goes into the show every year from the organisers, committee, volunteers, trade stands and competitors in all sections to make the show what it is.

The there's loads and loads to see and do, pop your wellies on, it's definitely worth a wander today(Saturday) for a grand day out and to break up any summer holiday boredom!

ALL FRAMES AND MOUNTS HAVE NOW BEEN TAKEN!

Most have gone to local charity groups and will be used in projects supporting mental health. 💛

We have some frames that are going FREE to whoever would like to collect them. Slight seconds but solid and usable for upcoming exhibitions, entering art in the local shows or any art projects you may have.

We also have a box of imperfect mounts seconds in a variety of sizes that may be of use to some folk. Pop in to pick up whatever you may use.

If you are able, a wee donation to the Thurso Lifeboat would be appreciated but is not required (especially not if collecting for a charity group), we'd just love to see someone getting some use out of them!

It's been a busy week! We've had a few deliveries including a mega top up of cards and prints from the lovely and amazingly talented Lisa Poulsen Lisa Poulsen.

Lisa' work is a real favourite with our customers. A Thurso artist, she uses the textures of the Caithness Stone to create images that capture our beautiful big skies and dramatic landscape, all with the focus of connecting us to where we live and exploring human emotion.

We have sold out of her large limited editions of these works, as Lisa's work doesn't hang around for long! But we have the wee open edition mounted prints available, along with over 20 others to choose from. We also have a selection of frames available in stock to fit them.

The Stonescape cards are always popular, they are beautiful to leave up or frame, blank inside and suitable for sending for any occasion.

Between the World Cup🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽ and Pride🌈 our windows are full of colour just now!

Looks like it will be a busy day doon ey street in Thurso today with lots going on for Caithness Pride! There are markets in the precinct, stalls at the tennis courts, the parade at midday, circus skills workshops, live performances throughout the day and much more. Hope everyone has a fab day (and that the weather behaves)!
