Day 5 of is 'Neighbourhood'

Our shop is in the heart of Thaxted : a historic, beautiful, desirable, friendly, community minded corner of this green and pleasant land. We love Thaxted - and love to commission artwork and goods inspired by it. Our latest artwork is 'Colours of Thaxted' by .
We sent her reference photos of our neighbourhood and she created this artwork which we have availble to buy as a print, greeting card and soon as a tea towel.

Day 4 - Throwback Thursday

Did you know that we used to design, make and wholesale greetings cards? I put my art degree to good use to design and illustrate a range of handmade, handfinished cards. We exhibited at all the big trade fairs and we were stocked in lovely independent shops up and down the country. This is me winning the Best in Show award for greetings cards at our favourite trade fair, British Craft Trade Fair. (BCTF was full of wonderful independent makers, but now sadly no longer running) I loved creating and developing the card business but, as Gifted got busier, we had to decide whether to employ staff or to stop. We felt like we had scratched the itch - and decided to only make cards for Gifted in future. We don't get the time to make as many as I would like - but you can sometimes find some on our shelves here. Perhaps this reminiscing will inspire me to get making againšŸ¤”?

I popped in to see my BFF Helen from earlier today. She has taken on management of Clarence House Conservation Garden and was there today to gather support to help. The gardens have been beautifully maintained by a team of volunteers but there is more potential to be realised and a building badly in need of repairs. You can visit the garden for a wander round most weekends and if you think you may be of assistance to Helen (she needs all sorts of skills from fundraising to weeding) then please contact her via her Discover Bushcraft page.
