It was an absolute honour to be asked to judge the Artisan Craft Stalls at Taunton Flower Show this year. As a creative person who has had many stalls myself at events over the years it felt full circle to be asked to pick a winner 🥇
Rather spookily whilst judging I bumped in to Delia West who used to organise the most brilliant vintage craft fairs that I frequently sold at with my own business (lush to see you Dee!)
What was SO lovely about ALL the stands was the lack of anything AI generated!!! Every single stand was selling products that demonstrated a human skill…a perfected craft….a wonderful art! It was a space full of talented, real, experienced, lovely Makers and Artists and a space full of beautiful, high quality, unique items.
In a World where AI is getting harder and harder to escape I felt the value in being able to absorb the genuine, good old fashioned skills and talents and speak to the friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable (real) people!!! THANK YOU.
I also had the pleasure of bumping in to lots of my favourite Taunton folk!! Lots of selfie opportunities! John Hunt was the first to meet and greet at the gate which was lovely! Always great to see the crew from Go Create! And the Orchard Gallery Taunton and of course Fran from Bumblee's Preserves! (Forgot to get a selfie with Dough Bros. And KK- Social Media)
It is SO lovely being a part of the make up of this town that I love to live, work and play in, and to be quite honest with you, being a judge at the flower show is one of the highlights of my time in Taunton!!
