Swindon is gearing up to celebrate Armed Forces Day at Lydiard Park on Saturday 20 June and you’re invited.

Join us from 11am to 4.30pm for a day packed with military displays, family activities, community stalls, live performances and a funfair. The event is supported by a £5,000 Ministry of Defence grant and is Swindon’s chance to honour the dedication of serving personnel, veterans and military families.

Expect performances from the Gurkhas, cadets and a brass band, plus great food options, a fun fair and free parking. Local groups interested in getting involved can contact the team at [email protected].

Our shop in The Brunel Swindon will be open Friday and Sunday 12-4 this week. 😊

Looking forward to another fantastic day with The REME Museum!

A shoutout for some of the organisations helping to bring our local community together on Armed Forces Day 📢

Local Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers - REME units including 8 Training Battalion, the Corps Engagement Team and SAAE Lyneham.

Our local pub, The Mallard Mallard, who will be serving BBQ food - don't forget to head on over to the pub to carry on the celebrations after we close!

Information and activity stalls provided by Swindon & Wiltshire Pride, Wiltshire Police, Swindon Story Shed and Centre For Sustainable Energy among others.

Plus, all proceeds from our prize raffle go to The REME Charity, who support past and present members of the Corps and their dependants, as well as the REME Museum. Tickets will be available to buy on the door.

11 weeks in, we were so young, so full of hope...! 😂

Two years on we have now:

- Given away over 2500 books
- Worked with libraries, Parish Councils, SBC and schools to deliver workshops
- Partnered with National Literacy Trust in Swindon to gift more books, provide free comic book workshops in schools, and launch our monthly Dads Shed
- Set up our gorgeous shop space in The Brunel Swindon
- Hosted author events and The BloodShed Crime Fiction Festival
- Attended many events, such as Swindon & Wiltshire Pride and The REME Museum, with book stalls and free art activities
- Received thousands more book donations and MOST importantly, met even MORE wonderful and inspiring people!

Thank you everyone for your continued support - we are SO looking forward to this summer! 😁☀️

Plus we still have all our usual joy with new books, secondhand books, and FREE art activities all weekend. 😁
