Help us stock our brand-new Watchfield charity shop!

We're looking for good-quality donations of clothing, shoes, handbags, books, toys and homeware to help fill our newest charity shop before it opens. Come and drop them off:

💚 Hospice Hero of the Week: Jane 💚

This week we're celebrating Jane, one of our wonderful retail volunteers.

After retiring from teaching, Jane wanted to give back to her local community. As a long-time supporter of Prospect Hospice, volunteering in one of our shops was a natural choice.

Jane loves the variety of each shift and getting to know the regular customers and fellow volunteers.

We’ve been joined by two work experience students this week. They have been great additions to our team this week, getting stuck in and learning new skills.

They created a lovely display of our jewellery. Which is already proving successful. Thank you both for your hard work.

Our page has been a little quiet this week, I’m taking a small holiday this week with my family.

Our volunteer Ruth has kindly send me some pictures of the store to keep the page up to date. Thank you Ruth.

It’s great to see all of the donations we have received this week. Thank you to my assistant manager and sales assistant and volunteers, for keeping the store running whilst I’m enjoying some downtime.

Hello 👋

I thought it would be good to introduce myself.

My name is Melissa and I am the shop manager here in Cavendish Square.
I have been the Shop Manager here since we opened our door on the square in August 2023. I have been working for Prospect Hospice since 2011, first as a volunteer for 2 years then various manager roles from 2013.

Everyday is different, you never know what is going to happen! Which is what I love about working in charity retail. We have hundreds of donations pass through our doors each week, each of which is sorted, priced and put onto our shop floor as fast as we can to generate income for the Hospice.

We have a team of around 25-30 volunteers here in Cavendish Square. They have taught me much throughout my time as a manager, lots about myself and about life in general. Without them the running of our store is not possible. They keep the wheels turning and the till dinging, working hard to ensure all of our shelves are full.

When I’m not at the shop I’m at home spending time with my family or on a Disney trip with a massive snack in hand!
