There are times when consumer law is totally against small businesses, even when they are not at fault!

A customer buys a tiller pin from our website, order fulfilled, etc., etc. Two weeks later, a request to return the item as it was purchased as a present, but by mistake, as after the event it was discovered that the person for whom it was supposedly a gift for already had one, so did not want/need the present.

Request to return it, agreed but advised them of the restocking charge due to the tiller pin being undamaged but unwanted. After an email exchange containing lots of quotes from the Consumer Rights Act, we now have to accept the item back and give a full refund, including the outbound shipping and packing costs.

So, we sell a tiller pin in good faith, only to have it returned unwanted, not damaged or unusable, ordered by mistake and unwanted. Ok, no problem, but we have to lose the shipping and packing costs involved with sending it!

How is that fair? Nothing wrong with the goods, a mistake by the customer, but we, the small business, has to pay for that mistake and consequently make a loss!

I am pleased to announce that the rebuilt Draco Crafts website is now live.

Built on the latest ZenCart ecommerce platform with more robust security. The cyber attack on our host last December caused our database to crash, but no customer data was compromised.

The new site only features currently in stock items, I am in the process of building an Fb page which will show previous now out of stock tiller pins, in order that customers can see what is possible and what we may be able to source and convert.
