I share my method of adding track bed to OO gauge track..

When it comes to point motors, I’ve tried a lot of different types and brands. Most recently, these Rails Connect point motors from Rails Of Sheffield and I can safely say they are the best ones yet.

The biggest faff with point motors is alignment. I like the fact that these ones have pins that fit into the points directly ensuring perfect alignment. Then it’s just a case of recessing them into the board as shown in the photos.

They do also come with a pin extension in case you want to fit under the board as usual.

After a good few years my Dapol class 66 has given up the ghost. It started slowing and then stopped entirely. Looks like a fried motor.

I’ll be ordering a 12v coreless upgrade from Tramfabriek this weekend and will post the results when I get to doing the replacement.

It’s already had the wiring butchered and it’s been hotwired in the past on DC so should be a nice easy upgrade and a chance to put everything right that’s wrong.
