A difficult post to write today…
Yesterday morning, we discovered that Vallely’s had been broken into overnight.
Stock and cash were taken and damage was caused to the venue, leaving us with a significant and completely unexpected cost. We had to close yesterday morning again loosing revenue while everything was dealt with, but by lunchtime, we had picked ourselves up, put things back together and opened the doors again.
I won’t pretend I’m not angry. But more than that I’m genuinely sad that someone would do this to a small independent business.
Vallely’s isn’t a big corporate company with a huge organisation behind it absorbing losses like this. I don’t have business partners or investors. It’s just me. I’ve put pretty much everything in to Vallelys, building this business from the ground up, I’ve put everything into making it work and every single customer who walks through our doors matters.
Hospitality is already an incredibly tough industry and something like this really does hurt. It has set us back financially and personally.
But it won’t stop us. 🤎
We are OPEN as normal. The coffee machine is on, the bar is open and Vallely’s is still the same warm, welcoming place it was before this happened.
So if you’ve been meaning to pop in for a coffee, something to eat, a glass of wine or one of our new cocktails, we would absolutely love to see you. You don’t have to spend a fortune to support a small business, sometimes one coffee really does make a difference.
We’re sharing an image of a person we would like to identify in connection with the incident. If you recognise them or have information that may help, please don’t name anyone publicly in the comments. Please message us privately.
Thank you so much to everyone who has already helped, messaged and checked in.
Yesterday really floored me.
But it didn’t keep me down. Today, we carry on. I’ll be in all day with Alex to look after you but I might need a cuddle.
