Bachmann 32-702DC (OO) British Railways, Sulzer / Brush Type 4 [Class 46] ‘Peak’ D188 in BR Green with small yellow ends. DCC Fitted £115

Runs wells. DCC fitted. Not a sound model. Working light and fitted crew. The detail pack has been fitted. However the screw link coupling fowls the NEM Pocket, and so the model only comes with one fitted coupling as the other end the chain wasn’t fitted.

The Class 46 are very similar to the 45s. Using the same body and engine. However they differ in the traction motors and Generator. The class 46s use Brush Electrical Engineering equipment instead of the Crompton Parkinson equipment of the Class 45s. Another difference between 46s and many 45s came later in there careers. The 46s wouldn’t be retro-fitted with Electric Train Heating unlike fifty of Class 45s. This means the class 46 would spend much of there later careers as freight locos.

Runs okey. But there is body work issues. The model was in a glass cabinet for years and has some UV damage on the pain on one side. The model would make a great candidate for Weathering or as a donor chassis.

Runs well. Can achieve a maximum speed of 348mph unlike the real locos 22mph. A good simple pocket money model for beginners.

Dapol Kitmaster / Mainline (OO) Great Western Railway 3441 ‘Bird’ Class No.3443 “Chaffinch” in GWR pre 1936 Unlined Green £50

Runs okey. Kit build model using a Kitmaster kit and Mainline / Dapol ‘Dean Goods’ tender. Tender drive model. The locos had a just rebuild of the electrical pick ups and service. The model tender wheels have been replace with modern Hornby wheels that don’t use traction tyres. The model is only fitted with screw link couplings. These are operational.

The 3441 ‘Bird’ class were 15 loco strong sub class of 4-4-0 based on the 33xx ‘Bulldog’. The main visual differences was the use of straight frames, rather then the curved over the wheels of the Bulldogs. Visually this made them look more like the larger boilers City Class.
