We wanted to share a glimpse into the process of Stuart carefully taking apart a recently discovered carved panel.

The piece featured a series of beautifully detailed individual composers and writers, each one finely carved and full of character. Rather than keeping them as a single composition, we felt each deserved to be appreciated in its own right.

We decided to have them individually framed, allowing each figure to stand alone as a striking decorative artwork.

A great example of how thoughtful restoration and presentation can reveal the true beauty within a larger work.

Featured here is a beautiful example of French Art Nouveau design - https://jayarenski.com/product/french-art-nouveau-oak-bibliotheque-escabeau-library-steps-circa-1900/

Dating from around 1900, this elegant oak bibliothèque escabeau combines practicality with the flowing, organic forms that define the Art Nouveau movement. Crafted in solid oak, it features striking whiplash-curved uprights, a parquetry-inlaid top, and a wonderfully rich original patina developed over more than a century.

Designed as both library steps and a display piece, it is a reminder of a time when even the most functional objects were created with artistry and attention to detail.

A sculptural and highly decorative piece that would sit beautifully in a library, study, or interior filled with character.

We just had to ask Jay, the big boss, about this unusual Moroccan and Jewish metal and wood bowl, dating to circa 1910-1920.

A fascinating fusion of cultures and craftsmanship. Pieces like this speak to a shared decorative language across regions and traditions, making them as interesting historically as they are visually compelling.

The restoration is complete.

After many careful hours of conservation, this remarkable Italian Revival mother-of-pearl inlaid table has been brought back to its former glory. Every detail has been meticulously preserved, allowing the beauty of the craftsmanship and the richness of the inlay work to shine once again.

We’re delighted to see this exceptional table looking its best once more.

We’ve given our showroom a refresh, and we’d love to welcome you in.

With a slight break in the fair calendar until Battersea Decorative Fair in September, we’ve spent some time giving our North London showroom plenty of love and attention. The result is a beautifully curated space filled with antiques, art and decorative objects waiting to be discovered.

What do you think the theme of this room is? If you could give it a name, what would it be?

Message us to arrange an appointment and explore the collection in person. We’d love to show you around and share some of the stories behind the pieces.

Currently happening in the showroom...

We’re carefully bringing an Italian Revival mother-of-pearl inlaid table back to life. Pieces like this require patience, skill, and a deep respect for the craftsmanship of the original maker.

It’s always rewarding to watch the intricate details re-emerge as the restoration progresses. We can’t wait to share the finished result.
