It’s back to business as usual after spending last week out at the world’s biggest AV trade show Integrated Systems Europe This year we were treated to a new country Barcelona, glorious sunshine and amazing technology. Here are my top highlights from the show
It was lovely to actually be a part of the show this year with my amazing peers. CEDIA CEDIA EMEA hosted a live panel on all the hard work that has gone into developing the new CIT and IST certifications including the process of getting them ISO17024 accredited. Lots of insight shared by Amanda Beckner, Andy Baker, Pete Trauth & Alan Matthews
L-Acoustics Creations reveal and live demonstration of their new Soka speaker and SB6i subwoofer. We love the sonic signature of this brand but the existing line up wasn’t always suitable. The Soka and SB6i fill the gap in their line up offering unbelievable performance in a compact footprint better suited to residential projects.
Crestron demonstrated lots of new technology to enhance their Crestron Home, Home Automation platform. There were brand new battery powered blinds, the NAX multi-room audio amplifier, premium video distribution with NVX but the most interesting was their reveal of Circadian Rhythm lighting. They have a sensor that is mounted outside your home. This measures the colour temperature of light and changes the colour temperature of the lighting fixtures indoors to mimic daylight. All of this results in better health and wellness in the home. A topic we will no doubt see more of in the near future.
Sony Professional Europe launch two brand new home cinema projectors (XW5000 and XW7000) with a big jump in performance and a huge reduction in cost and physical size. The XW5000 comes in at ÂŁ6K and offers a native 4K image with a laser light source resulting in a brighter picture. This will make stronger entry level cinema rooms more affordable for the masses.
Moovia launches Milano, a premium cinema seat that defies physics. Without taking up any additional space behind, this incredible piece of engineering can transform from a sofa to a daybed at the push of a button, clever and luxurious.
took all the cool things about a Nest thermostat and supercharged it for AV. This minimalistic rotary style interface gives you simple control of blinds, lighting, music and temperature in those areas where a touchscreen may not be desired. It can also be mounted on a table stand.
K-array The amount of sound coming out of a speaker the size of your index finger is ridiculous. Lots of innovation at the company as well that impressed
Honorable mentions to Officina Acustica for a great demo room, HOLOPLOT for an innovative speaker concept, Rako Controls Ltd for their modular PIR sensor, for stunning brushed metal speaker grills, Blustream for 18gb over 1gb Video over IP, GUDE Systems for the 8291 IP PDU & DoorBird for video doorbell with fingerprint reader
