Although 200 years ago Britain had the reputation of being the “Workshop of the World” this is very much welcome news and shows the upward trajectory which bodes well for the future.
BREAKING: The UK has leapfrogged France to become the 8th largest manufacturer in the world.

With an annual output of £224 billion, the buoyant sector now supports 2.6 million jobs according to new data released this morning by trade association Make UK.

The figures are contained in the latest annual ‘Manufacturing – The Facts’ which contains a wide variety of data about the contribution of manufacturing to the economy including exports, sectoral breakdown, how the UK compares to other nations and salary levels.

Make UK estimates that if the Government commits to its call for a manufacturing target of 15% of GDP, this will add an additional £142 billion to the UK economy.

JCB is creating 200 new jobs and ramping up production at its Cheadle, Uttoxeter and Rocester sites in Staffordshire to meet soaring global demand.

Since January 2021, the British manufacturer has built a record number of machines, created more than 1,350 jobs, handed permanent contracts to over 1,000 agency workers, secured a host of major orders and invested £100 million developing its award-winning hydrogen engine.

British manufacturing at its best! This is Norton Motorcycles' stunning new superbike. The V4SV will be built at the historic marque's recently opened factory in Solihull as part of a £100 million investment by parent company TVS Motor which is expected to create 300 jobs.

All of the curling stones used by competitors at the Beijing Winter Olympics were hand-crafted at Kays Curling's workshop in Mauchline, Ayrshire, using granite from the island of Ailsa Craig. Founded in 1851, the historic firm has supplied stones for the Winter Olympics since 1924.
