ality & very fresh. With seating for over 70 people, sample our home made menu, using our own & locally sourced ingredients. Visit our butchery, run by award-winning Grassmere Farm. Fresh eggs are delivered daily from our farm in Tallington & much of the veg is home grown, some orgainic. Our Farm Shop also has fresh bread from Pacey's Bakery, Cook frozen meals, Brick pizzas, Saints & Sinners preserves & all your essentials. We’ll always give you a warm & friendly welcome. Our Farm Shop also stocks our complete range of bird seed, of which much is grown & packed on the farm. We also sell a large range of feeders & other bird feeding accessories.

Have you ever wondered how the Cattle Egret gets its name? Here’s the answer, caught in action! These remarkable birds are almost always found alongside grazing animals, like this cow, looking out for insects disturbed on the ground & on the skin. Notice the yellow beak of the Cattle Egret, a key difference from the Little Egret’s black beak.

Nicholas was treated to a rare close-up of a young Green woodpecker in the Vine House Garden. It was a privilege to observe this striking bird so near; close enough to notice it may have lost the tip of its beak. This could make hammering through tree bark & foraging for ants & insects more challenging. Birds however are remarkably resilient & often adapt to such setbacks. As September arrives, the autumn migration begins. Many of our summer visitors — including Swallows, Wheatears & warblers— are now embarking on their long journey back to Africa & southern Europe. We’ll soon be welcoming winter species arriving from Northern - thrushes, finches & geese. A fascinating time of seasonal change!
