Marching On

With potential changes on the horizon and an end to lockdown begins to look like it might actually happen we can be proud of how we’ve all managed to get through the last year

Some things have already started to get back to normal - schools have returned, as have preschools and nurseries that shut during lockdown - and those who may not have considered sending their child to preschool before lockdown may now be in desperate need of some space

This includes us. B has lost out on so much over the past year we hope that putting her in a nursery where she can spend more time with others her age may help her feel more comfortable around people again and lead to better social development.

Hopefully it’ll also lead to me having a few hours a week of much needed time and space after being with her 24/7 for the past year - it’s by no means a done deal yet, I haven’t even applied for a place, but it’s on my (very long) to-do list

To help her (and me) feel more prepared for the coming change we’ll be getting a few books - these are mainly aimed at preschoolers a year older but as a bright and interested child we thought there’s no harm in trying

We’ll be getting B copies of Early Years Ready to Read and Ready to Write wipe clean books, to aid the letters and pen control she’s recently shown an interest in, along with the newly released What Is A Virus Lift the flap question and answer book, to help her understand what’s going on in the world around her
We already have the What Are Germs? book at home which has helped her learn about why we keep things clean and wash our hands

I’ll let you know how we get on but in the mean time if you’re interested in getting copies of any of these just pop me a message (my March order goes in on Wednesday so be sure to let me know before then!)

Keep Going

This coming week sees most of the countries school aged children go back to school - Congrats parents, you survived homeschooling round 2!

But for parents like us, with small children under school age and who don’t attend nursery for whatever reason, this week holds no change

We long for the days of parents and baby groups where we don’t feel silly for asking other mums things like ‘is it normal for my baby to make noises that sound more cat like than human?’ Or ‘is my toddler the only one who can’t seem to nail this potty training thing?’ and can have a cup of tea that’s actually hot whilst holding a conversation with someone over the age of 3

For those of you in that boats, keep on going! It won’t be like this forever, we’ll make it through together. So don’t worry about plonking your sprog down in front of another episode of Duggee or hiding in the toilet for 10 minutes just to stay sane. You got this, it’s nearly over!

And if you do ever need a listening ear or encouragement, my inbox is always open

Don’t Tickle The...

If you’re looking for a book that’s engaging, a bit of fun, and has the capability to entertain a small child for more than 10 seconds then this is definitely a book series you need to check out!

We recently got hold of our first title in this series after my Usborne leader raves about it, and it does not disappoint!

Over several pages you are introduced to different animals each featuring a soft, touchy feely patch that makes an animal noise when you tickle it with a musical surprise waiting on the last page

This book has proved hugely popular with my 2 1/2 year old who stole it and ran off because she was enjoying it so much, and even my 6 month old baby has loved touching and listening to it

It’s also become a firm favourite of customers - my last order contained 5 copies of titles from this series and everyone who’s received a copy has loved it!

There are currently 5 titles in the series - Dont’t Tickle The... Hippo, Tiger, Pig, Lion and Dinosaur but with at least 2 more on the horizon (crocodile and bear) this is certainly a series that will have something for every young child
