Update regarding BBQs... 🚫🔥

We've unfortunately had to kick an angler off today at Tongue Punch Lagoon in Liverpool for using an ironing board to balance a disposable BBQ. Whilst we've had some rain recently, all BBQs are still strictly banned for the foreseeable future. Please respect the rules.

We have a cafe on-site with plenty of affordable meals, featuring full English breakfasts and curries starting from £65.50 per person. There is absolutely no need to cook for yourself on the bank.

Because of incidents like this, we are strongly considering banning anglers from bringing their own food entirely and enforcing a strict "fishery food only" rule.

🚫 LIFETIME BAN ISSUED 🚫

We have seen photos circulating on social media of a well-known female fishing influencer fishing our lakes here at Valley Dale Fisheries in Bradford, and the way the fish is being held for the camera is absolutely out of order.

If a carp is held like that and dropped, the damage could easily be fatal. Not only is it devastating to the fish, but the cost to replace carp of that caliber is astronomical.

The culprit knows exactly who she is, and she has been permanently banned from our waters.

We are sharing this because ignoring it sends out a terrible message. If we allow this to slide, it tells other anglers that this level of fish care is acceptable—and it absolutely is not. Fish welfare will always come first here, no exceptions.

Let this be a reminder to everyone: respect the fish, respect the rules, or you won't fish here.

Pinning it down... 🎣

When you're fishing double bottom baits, it is absolutely imperative to add a couple of 'mouse droppings' of tungsten putty along your hooklink to pin it dead flat to the lakebed.

Why? Because when inquisitive carp and other fish are feeding heavily over your spot, the water displacement can easily waft an unweighted hooklink around. Pinning it down keeps your trap perfectly set, out of the way, and completely hidden from wary fish.
