Maybe we all need a little more time to do absolutely nothing useful.

August always feels like a good excuse to slow things down a bit. Pack a bag, head somewhere different, drink your coffee while it’s still hot, read a few pages, scribble in a notebook, sit outside and generally forget what day it is.

You don’t necessarily need to go very far either.

We spent a lovely day recently at Lower Birch Farm here in North Devon, and it got us thinking about some of our favourite places to escape to close to home.
