Concrete Gems Crochet

Concrete Gems Crochet Hi, I’m Gemma! I create beautifully textured, easy crochet patterns inspired by nature. Alongside designing, I also offer crochet technical editing. Still unsure?

I also support crochet designers with expert tech editing services to help bring their patterns to life with clarity and confidence. I’ve always loved crochet – there’s something magical about turning yarn into texture, colour, and shape. For me, it’s one of the most relaxing and fulfilling activities imaginable. Over the years, I’ve been inspired by nature, from the delicate pattern of leaves to

the intricate textures of forest floors, and I love bringing those ideas into my crochet designs. My focus is on creating nature-inspired, textured crochet patterns that are both beautiful and enjoyable to make. My journey into this started thanks to my mother-in-law, who introduced me to the idea of reviewing patterns for mathematical accuracy and clarity. As an English graduate (and part-time accountant!), this instantly clicked with me. Technical editing ensures that every pattern you publish or use works perfectly. No more stitch counts that don’t add up, missing definitions, confusing abbreviations, or grammatical quirks that interrupt your flow. That’s where I step in. Send me a message – we can chat! Pricing depends on pattern complexity and the level of checking needed (text, charts, schematics, formatting). Small accessories may take an hour, while complex garments with multiple sizes can take up to 8 hours. I charge £25/hour, billed in 15-minute increments. Whether you’re here for textured, nature-inspired crochet patterns or professional technical editing, I’m excited to help you bring your crochet ideas to life.

Have you ever tried the moss stitch? It's a lovely beginner-friendly stitch pattern that's super easy and very addictive! This is the 6th part in my crochet beginner series this summer, and it seems rather popular. Which stitches would you like to see next?

I've wanted to grow a Dahlia for years, so when I finally managed it last year, I celebrated by designing the Dahlia festival bag (scroll to last image!) This year, the weather had other ideas and my Dahlia is really struggling, so I thought I would try and will it into flowering by creating the Dahlia Tablet Case.

Comment TABLET if you'd like to make one too!
