We’re back at MADE, and this time we’ll be repairing saddles.

Our man from Philly, Simon from Transport Cycles, will be joining us in Portland to hammer some new rivets into your saddle.

And don’t worry, if you’ve got a more complex issue, Simon will take care of it back at his workshop.

One of the best things about Open Factory is seeing so many different interpretations of what makes a bicycle special. No two builders take quite the same approach, and that’s exactly how we like it.

One lap around the factory was never quite enough. Fairlight Cycles, Pashley Cycles, Stooge Cycles, Jonathan Thompson and Vulcan Bicycle Works filled our courtyard with bikes that kept drawing people back for another look, each one revealing something new the longer you spent with it.

Thank you to every builder who helped make this year’s Open Factory one to remember. We hope to see you back in Birmingham before too long.

There was no shortage of interesting machinery at this year’s Open Factory. Alongside the smell of fresh leather and the whirr of workshop tools, some of our favourite builders rolled through the doors with bikes worth lingering over.

Between Condor Cycles, Singular Cycles and The Woods Cyclery there was no shortage of personality on display. Different ideas, different approaches, but all united by an eye for thoughtful details and beautifully considered bicycles and accessories.

Then there was Haws Watering Cans, our neighbour here in Smethwick. Strictly speaking, they don’t build bicycles at all. But every good workshop needs a watering can.

Many thanks to everyone who brought their bikes, stories and good company to Birmingham.

Safe journey home.

Brooks England wishes to thank all those members of the public who attended the 2026 edition of the Open Factory. Once again, we welcomed a cavalcade of friends to exhibit in the courtyard, while the factory was filled throughout the day with curious tour groups taking a look around.

If you attended in any capacity at all, thank you.

We’ll see you down the road.

Good design has a habit of recognising itself.

Sometimes that happens across disciplines. Sometimes across generations.

The Brooks & JJJJound collaboration is less about reinvention than about shared sensibilities... restraint over spectacle, longevity over novelty, and the belief that the things we keep tend to be the ones that ask the least of us.

The Brooks & JJJJound saddles are a creative re-imagining of the iconic Brooks leather saddle, produced in strictly limited numbers and constructed in premium quality white vegetable-tanned leather.

True to JJJJound’s aesthetic signature, the saddle’s white top is contrasted with chromed steel rails and a stainless steel nameplate. The side of the saddle is embossed with a dedicated JJJJound side stamp.

The underside of the top is left to its natural colouring. The rivets are made of steel.

The collaboration is enhanced with a Brooks England & JJJJound hub shiner, presented with our compliments.

There’s a certain honesty to a bike that’s built for someone, rather than everyone.

Our friends at in Finland recently shared one of their latest custom builds, complete with a set of Travelling Bags.

Thoughtful, understated and built to last - the sort of bicycle that earns its character through miles rather than marketing.
Exactly the kind we like.

Explore the new Travelling Bags, at the link in bio.

We're so back! Our doors open once again this Saturday.

The Brooks England Open Factory returns to Smethwick on 18 July for a day of craftsmanship, conversation, and good company.

Expect factory tours, beautiful bicycles from friends including Condor, Fairlight, Singular, Stooge and Pashley, coffee from Kickback, local food and beer, plus a few Birmingham neighbours joining us along the way.

Tickets have unfortunately now sold out, but if you're joining us, we'll see you Saturday!

It’s all water under the bridge.

Brooks England Travelling Bags are the pages on which your story is written. Memories made manifest: the nick from an errant strand of barbed wire; a stain the provenance of which you do not know, only that it occurred somewhere in France; the pervasive smell of firelighters that will forever imbue that internal compartment. These are the tales your bags can tell.

Travel with stile. Introducing the Brooks Travelling Bags collection. The Haul, Half-Haul, Rambler, and a return of the famed Isle of Wight saddle bag.

Made of waxed cotton, these bags will age with you, creating a visible collection of stories specific to you and your adventures.

The ancient craft of dry stone walling is practiced all over Britain. It’s a thoughtful process; an act of construction that takes time. The end result, sympathetic and symbolic.

The gaps left between the walls to allow a person (and their bicycle) to pass, are known as stiles. Like the walls themselves, they come in a variety of shapes and, well… styles.

And if your pannier should take a scuff on the way through? Well, that’s all part of the patina.
