Our little BMX display, to say thank you to the originators of BMX (Bicycle Motor Cross). Although the birth of BMX was in the late 1960's in the U.S.A. with the Steve Mcqueen documentary Film " on any Sunday" released in 1971 that had a small clip of kids racing around a dirt track on customised pedal bikes, trying to replicate the Dirt Bike racing that really sparked the imagination of many in the U.S and the world to create off road bicycles for racing and jumping. Like most things, the U.K and Europe seem to get things a few years later from the U.S.
It was 1970's TV shows like CHiPs (California Highway Protrol) and the 1982 Movie E.T that sparked the BMX Craze in the U.K and Europe.
I can remember getting my first Bike....A Raleigh hand me down from my older Sister.
I took off the mud guards....wrapped most of the frame with my Dad's Black electrical Tape.....And started making ramps.... It wasn't until 1982 did I finally get my first BMX....a Blue Raleigh Burner. The cheapest model in the Bike shop. But riding down my street on my First Brand new bike....I felt like the king of the road. Such great memories of my BMX days. It was freedom....it was my first connection to people from different areas...We were united through BMX....

After Putting the original 1982 Raleigh Tuff Burner out yesterday, it sold to one very happy customer, who collected it today. So the Kuwahara ET BMX looked a bit lonely...so we've added another BMX courtesy of our great friends at KAOS BMX (Keeping Alive Old School BMX) Skyway TA replica. Original 1980's BMX frame and fork, fully new Powdercoating by Slaithwaite's very own Crimble Coatings. With some new and used parts.
