Brighton Sauna Festival is about more than just the heat.

We have live DJ sets running every evening from the VW DJ van .club right on the beach at Banjo Groyne. Huge thanks to for curating this line up. Here’s who’s playing:

🐧 NEWS FLASH 🗞️ Penguin Random House UK has named 44 independent bookshops as recipients of the Penguin Children’s Bookshop Grant 2026, selected from 159 applications.

And guess what?! Chapter 34 is one of them.

Many of you will have been lucky enough to meet Carmen, our legend of children’s bookselling. Carmen is so passionate about getting children reading, if you haven’t come in to see her beautifully curated children’s section you simply must.

You may have heard about Carmen, and Emily’s work with ‘Chapter Chasers,’ a new incentive for the ‘International Year of Reading’ that encourages all children to read more. This grant means that Carmen can continue this fabulous incentive, not only at Chapter 34 but also in our local schools and into the local homeschooling community. This grant is so welcome and means we can SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS about Chapter Chasers.

We’re so thankful to for letting us use this beauty as a Pop-Up Shop for Brighton Sauna Festival with 29-31 May.

Over 3 days 20+ saunas from around the UK will be forming a ‘sauna village’ on our coast.

You’ll have the opportunity to try rituals ranging from leaf whisking to aufguss and storytelling. It’s a great opportunity to try saunas if you haven’t yet discovered them.

Our little bookshop will be there selling incredible sauna books including Wild Sauna by the awesome plus .commodity and other sauna and sea goodies.

We will also have information about our first Reading Retreat to Finland with (obviously this involves saunas!)
