Well, Monday came around real quick! But Saturday's Sewcial was just fantastic and the new workshop time table was well received.....if you want a copy, please drop by the shop...lots of exciting things going on between now and Christmas! I was pleased to see our youngest member at 8 years old, attend with her grandmum...she made a reversible bucket hat and did fantastic, so this got me thinking........

From October I'll be opening up the barn on a Tuesday for an Open Sew 5.30-8, but I wondered if there would be any interest for an after school sewing class for ages 8-11 from 4-5.30? If your interested for your child then just let me know, lets have a chat.

Open as usual this week, hopefully with no 'life interruptions' so Tuesday - Friday 10-3. There's the Quilters Group at Big Barn on Thursday 5.30-8 and on Saturday, I' m running another Rag Quilt workshop, so let me know if you want to come......

Now to the photos......

I finished a second rag quilt for my sofa, slightly different design but works well, the dogs love them, normally sit on the backs so they get super comfy!

The flowers were bought in by a customer from her garden at the beginning of last week, and they are still going...love a home grown flower!

And the final picture is of the first harvest of the pears from my garden....they'll be in the shop tomorrow if you fancy free pears...anyone can come!

And, as a final comment for this post, if the kids are getting bored as we near the return to scall I have some FREE, YES, FREE diamond art kits suitable for ages 8+ if you want to come to the shop on the parade from Tuesday to Friday!

Lets hope it's not only a good week, but a cooler one too!

What an anti-climax! I stood outside to see the partial eclipse...I must of blinked! And I had my colander in position too! Perhaps it was because it was plastic....Never mind......

So, busy week, hence limited usage of social media, but I have been gainfully employed with repairs, alterations and new makes alongside planning MNAM activities for the last trimester of the year amoungst other things......this timetable will be available in the shop and at the sewcials, so make sure you come grab a copy!

So, workshops include pattern cutting, dungarees, jacket, blouse/shirt, party outfits, soft toy making, and Xmas projects. And in addition to the Saturday Sewcial and the Quilters meet, I ve added a Tuesday evening free sew....😊

Soft Furnishings, upholstery and upcycling will be a new addition for 2027!😀

Now it's going to be a hot day....keep the fluids up, and only go out during the cooler hours...its one day, most things can wait.......you know what they say about mad dogs and English People......😅

And finally, I managed a rag quilt for myself....I needed to make bespoke throws for the back of my sofas.....not a bad effort, if I do say so myself.....and on the 22nd of August, I m running another Rag Quilt Workshop if anyone is interested......let me know if you want to join us ....£35 all found!

And its the start of the week again, just like that!

New projects begin this week with some upholstery, dressmaking as well as the continued roll of repairs and alterations .....since last reporting I am almost ready to open book 8 of repairs receipts and I m working hard to maintain my 7-10 day turn around.....

Very pleased this week to be greeted by SO MANY cars as I turned up for Thursday s Quilting Group...my heart was full... and we had a fantastic session.....see pictures....this was indeed a mind boggling block, but everyone got there in the end!

On Friday I felt the strength of our community when a customer bought me a cake, as well as a lovely smile.....I like the fact that people feel able to drop in and say hi.....I accept with gratitude!

This Saturday 15th August sees the next Sewcial from 10-2, but look out for the dates for sessions between now and dare I say it, Xmas just so that we re clear, namely me on what we re doing! I m also pencilling in workshops! So hopefully get that done tonight!

Now, if you have an ideas of things you d like to do, let me know! I m all ears......and don't forget we ve another heatwave on the way.....if you need a bucket hat, I have a free pattern!

Well, we re almost at the end of the week and what a week its been.....but some major projects finished, so I m happy!

I was pleased to finish the bridal party alterations.....do you know that these fittings started 6 months ago.....it takes that long to really get to know the bride and her entourage and I always feel accomplished when we come to the end....wishing this bride health and happiness going forward....she ll be a Mrs now! Yes, sometimes we go right to the wire for the best fit! If you are or you know someone who is getting married, I m going to do a piece on this in the next couple of weeks....top tips and ideas!

And look at this pelmet which started life as a blank piece of wood..its wonderful what you can do with beautiful fabric, contrast and braid....I hope it will be happy in its new home!

Still with home furnishing, wait till you see what I have up my sleeve next week! But the staples still continue...so thanks for bringing your repairs and alterations .....

So tonight (Thursday) the Quilting Group will meet and Big Barn from 5.30pm-8pm....whether you re experienced or a beginner feel free to drop by...let's see if we can get your creative juices flowing....

And just a reminder about my business....its just me! Now I work really hard to meet all customer needs, but I will not tolerate entitlement, bad manners or poor behaviour....so if you identify with any of these, then just give me a miss! There, I said it!

I have spent so many years being a people pleaser, I just don't fancy taking that into my dotage and what's more, just be kind!

Morning! So in the shop this morning working towards completed wedding outfits, I just checked the diary and just to clarify, the Quilters Group IS ON this Thursday 6th August 5.30pm-8pm! Sorry to all those who asked!

At this week's group there will be many remnants for sale, so even if you re not coming to the quilting group, come fir the remnants.....

Hellooooo! How are you all?

Fab sewcial today...thanks to all who attended, always love the different projects people bring and how we inspire each other.....there is no such thing as perfection, but everyone does their very best and it is its own perfect!

Notice anything different? YES, the cutting table at Big Barn has been levelled, thanks to Jacqui's son, Simon who has a building company! And it was done for free which made it super special! It actually adds light and space .....thank you!

So one of our number had been on a shirring workshop, and we were all super excited with what she d done, so she ll be co-hosting a session with me on Sunday 6th of September 10-2....If anyone is interested let me know!

Good Monday! Mine has started well, with a spell in the shop working with my mentor Kenny from BackLight on the website....I m feeling lifted and inspired, so thank you!

Also pleased to see customers just dropping by, so I might consider opening on a Monday in the near future!

Anyway, it's always good to start the week with a bacon and sausage Bap from Alexander's Kitchen .....I couldn't resist and it was loverly!

So, following on from Saturday's workshop, a couple of attendees sent me pictures of their finished quilts, because they needed washing to create the Rag effect, so here they are....more events coming soon!

So tmrw the shop will be closed as I travel North, but open as usual from Wednesday....thats the BIG news for today...pass it on!

Well, what a wonderful Rag Quilt session today! Lovely group of individuals on the inaugural, and it went very well!

Thank you to our CO (cutter outer) Jacqui, and co-host Jo for making the session viable and to all who attended! Brilliant work, good conversation and a relaxed vibe augmented with drinks and cake!

If you would like to have a go, then come and have a chat! There are lots of sessions going on throughout the year!
