A reminder that we have our First Open Mic Night this Thursday, 4th June, in the Courtyard Cafe, Banner Building, 620 Attercliffe Road, S9 3QS. We have a full programme of performers. Doors open at 6:00 pm, with the first performance at 7:00 pm. Food is available from 6:00-7:00 pm, and the bar is open all evening. Please come down and support the performers.

In January of this year I wrote a blog about "Lawsuit" and "Lawsuit-Era" guitars https://www.imagtech.co.uk/imagmusings/lawsuit-lawsuit-era-guitars.

As some of you may be aware, there have been significant recent developments in this space. In March 2026, Fender obtained a judgment in Germany against a Chinese company making Strat-style guitars. The judgment found that the company had infringed copyright by using the strat style body, despite a 2009 US court ruling that the Strat and Tele style bodies were not trademarked. Since the ruling Fender have issued "cease and desist" letters to various guitar makers who have strat style guitars amongst their products.

This is going to run and run I reckon. What do you think? Are they trying to close a door that has been open too long?
