Rudy Rucker: computer scientist, mathematician, cyberpunk pioneer, science fiction author and oh yeah great-great-great-grandson of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel!

I haven't read enough of his novels to see if there is any substantive conceptual connections between the two but both are obsessed with the infinite and the absolute so theres something there, maybe something in the hegel genes make one prone to speculative
Maybe hes secretly a product of some philosophical Kwisatz Haderach breeding programme!

"Yorkshire the epitome of England. Whatever is excellent in the whole land is found there. The men are sturdy, shrewd, and stalwart; hard-headed and hard-fisted, and have notably done their work in every era of English history. They are also a handsome race, the finest specimens extant of the pure Anglo-Saxon, and they still preserve the imposing stature and the bright blonde characteristics of the race."

Weird backhanded compliment to Yorkshire folk, but hard to disagree with the sentiment.

I think this is about a group of Sheffielders in the 19th century , who end up moving to Texas! Or have texans coming to visit Hallam Croft Hall

Has anyone read this or know anything about it?
