IzzoSew Studio

IzzoSew Studio Teaching the art of sewing garments. Sheffield, UK Hello! We are the creators of IzzoSew Studio - a space created for the sustainably minded home sewist.

We met in 2006 at university through shared circles of creativity and design; painting, baking brownies and dancing the night away to drum and bass. Fast forward through 15 years of architectural endeavours and we’ve now chosen to express our creativity in a new way. We’ve designed this business to respond to the question of ‘What can I do to reduce the impact of fast fashion in the world?’ We don

’t need to tell you all about the environmental, economic and social impact that fast fashion can create, we trust you already know about that. But we have some great solutions to offer you, with the aim of empowering you to make some wonderful choices for your clothing. We’ll start small but we have a BIG vision and we’d love you to join us in this journey! Tim & Izzy

Do you ever feel like fitting is the one thing that slows everything down? It’s not just you.

Fitting can feel like the point where everything slows down.

Where a project that was flowing suddenly becomes uncertain.

Where it’s harder to know what to change, or where to begin.

You’re not alone in that.

But it’s also the part that makes the biggest difference — not just to how something looks, but how it feels to wear.

It’s something we take time over at the Ascot retreat. Not rushing it, but understanding it properly.

If you’ve been wanting to feel more confident with fitting, this is exactly the kind of space we create.

There’s something quite different about having uninterrupted time to sew.

Time to pause, to think things through, and to approach your work without rushing or second guessing.

Our sewing retreats are designed to give you that space.

You bring the projects you’ve been wanting to spend time with, and we’re there alongside you - offering guidance when you need it, whether that’s refining the fit of a garment, working through something more complex, or simply helping things fall into place more clearly.

With a small group, a light and spacious sewing room, and a calm, supportive atmosphere, the weekend begins to take on its own rhythm.

It becomes more than just time at the machine.

It’s a chance to settle back into your sewing, and to make meaningful progress in a way that’s often difficult to do alone.

Our next retreat will take place in Ascot, Berkshire
Saturday 12th – Sunday 13th September 2026
Just 30 minutes from Heathrow, it’s an easy option for both UK and international guests.

Full details are available via the link in our bio.

Today we’re celebrating something a extra special - Tim turns 40!

If you’ve been following for a while, you’ll know he’s very much part of the fabric of IzzoSew Studio. From the behind-the-scenes problem solving to supporting everything we do day to day, he’s a huge part of how the studio runs.

So to mark the occasion, we’re doing something simple.

For the next few days, all of our sewing patterns and kits are available with 40% off.

Each of our patterns has been carefully developed, tested, and refined to create garments that fit beautifully and feel good to wear. They’re designed to support you through the process, with clear instructions and accompanying video tutorials to guide you every step of the way.

And for those who prefer a more curated approach, our Tansen Top kits bring everything together - fabric, pattern, and all the essential components - ready to begin.

If you’ve been thinking about starting a new project, this might be a lovely moment to begin.

The offer runs until Sunday - you can explore everything via the link:

A place has just become available on our Peak District sewing retreat starting tomorrow.

This is very unusual - all of our retreats are fully booked, and cancellations are rare.
If you’ve been hoping to join us, this is a chance to step into a weekend of uninterrupted sewing, with time to focus on your own projects in a calm, supportive setting.

You’ll be part of a small group, with plenty of space to work, and guidance available throughout the weekend - whether you’d like help refining the fit of a garment or simply want the time to sew with clarity and focus.

The retreat begins tomorrow in the Peak District.

If you’re able to join us at short notice, book your place via our website.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback from this week’s trouser block course.

Working with a small group of just 4 people, we spent time drafting individual trouser blocks from scratch, and then using those as the foundation to begin developing pattern designs.

Keeping the class size this small allows for plenty of one-to-one fitting support, which is such an important part of the process - and something I really value being able to offer.

All of our trouser block courses for 2026 are now fully booked, but you’re very welcome to join the waiting list to be the first to hear when new dates are released.

Most pleated skirts start with something very simple - a basic skirt block.

From there, it’s just a process of opening the pattern out, adding volume, and refining the shape so everything still sits beautifully at the waist.

It’s one of those techniques that looks complex, but becomes much more approachable when you break it down step by step.

Once you understand the method, you can adapt it in so many ways - different pleat depths, spacing, and silhouettes.

Save this for when you’re ready to try it yourself!

One of the most encouraging parts of learning to sew is realising what you’re actually capable of creating.

Inside the Learn to Sew: Beginner Bespoke Dressmaking Course , we focus on three projects - each one designed to build your confidence while creating something you’ll genuinely want to wear.

There’s no need for complex patterns or complicated drafting. Instead, we use a few simple measurements to shape each piece to your body.

It’s a way of learning that feels both practical and personal.

If you’re just starting out, these projects are where that journey begins.

The full course is available via the link in my bio.
