We're so pleased that the Darent Valley Community Rail Partnership and Sevenoaks Town Council Rail Safe Friendly Project has reached 1,913 young people at 3 new schools over the last few months.

Learn Live have engaged a total of 3,235 young people at 9 schools over the last year and counting!

This initiative provides rail safety education to keep children and their families safe near the railway.

Applications are open for the Kent Community Waste Prevention Fund ♻️

Community groups, charities, CICs, social enterprises, residents' associations, parish and town councils across Kent can apply for grants of £500–£5,000 to deliver projects that help prevent household waste, promote reuse and repair, and encourage more sustainable behaviours.

Whether you're tackling food waste, extending the life of textiles and electricals, or developing another innovative waste reduction initiative, it would be great to hear from you.

Thank you to Sevenoaks Rock Choir and Ian Fox for their wonderful performances on the Vine last week!

The crowd enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere and great tunes.

Our next free Music on the Bandstand concert is this Thursday 20 August, at the Vine in Sevenoaks. Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra will be performing from 6pm to 8pm. Play Place will also be there with free children's activities.

Local children loved Family Fun Day at Greatness Recreation Ground last week! This event organised by Sevenoaks District Council Official and Sevenoaks Town Council is always a big hit!

There were fun games from Play Place and West Kent Housing Association, bike marking with Kent Police, plus, Company of Critters brought along fascinating creatures for children to meet. NHS Recovery and Wellbeing College also hosted a macrame key rings and painting stall.

Next up on the Bandstand, we have the fantastic Sevenoaks Rock Choir, this Sunday 16 August, 3pm to 5pm!

Bring along your picnic rug or chair to the Vine in Sevenoaks, enjoy the wonderful sounds from the choir, and soak up the great atmosphere.

It might sound a bit crazy to mention Christmas with this hot weather, but we need to call on Santa's helpers to get designing the next children's Christmas light before the deadline of 17 September!

Children aged up to 11 can enter our competition. So it's time to get creative, grab pens and pencils, and design a festive light that could be brought to life. It could be colourful, Christmassy, funny, magical or completely original – the design is up to you!

The winning design will be transformed into a REAL Christmas light and displayed outside the entrance to the House in the Basement Youth Café!

Imagine seeing your own creation shining brightly for everyone to enjoy!

The next She Shreds skateboarding session hosted by Samsara Sports at Greatness Skatepark is next week on 18 August!

This session is open exclusively to girls, to provide a positive and fun environment to skate. It's for both beginners and experienced skaters.

Boards and pads can be supplied free of charge.
