I'm very sad that he is gone but also exceedingly grateful that he spent much of his time on this earth revolutionising children's publishing. Did you know he started Usborne because he was so disappointed in what was available to his own children? He knew it could be done better and instead of moaning about it, set about making it happen. We can all learn from that example. Rest in peace Peter and may your family be surrounded by love and compassion.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our beloved founder and chairman Peter Usborne CBE. Peter passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by his family.

Peter was an exceptional publisher, an inspirational leader and a lovely man. He will be incredibly missed by his family and everyone here at Usborne.

Nicola Usborne, Peter’s daughter and Usborne’s managing director said “My dad always felt that he’d had the absolute best life, and that publishing for children for 50 years was the greatest privilege he could imagine.”

It was Usborne to the rescue with these two today!

For those who don't know, we spend half our week on a narrowboat - except that most days they are more likely to be free-ranging in the field next door than actually on the boat. Today was just too cold and wet to be out for long and we happily did a lovely Usborne trio of magic painting, stickers and colouring books this afternoon plus of course plenty of story books thrown in between.

Happy World Book Day! I've been so busy that it's nearly 10pm before I've managed to post!

I've spent the day doing one of my favourite things - sharing our lovely books with some even lovelier children and watching their faces light up with enthusiasm for reading!

This little, rural school has done so well with their Ready, Steady, Read challenge and I think we all enjoyed the book fair today. I can't wait to hand over at least £2500 worth of books to this school - it hasn't used up any of their school budget and will open up new worlds to their students! This job is so so rewarding 😍!
