How are you mums on here coping with the summer holidays ?
I know it was over 20 years ago for me but I can still remember so clearly that mum guilt of….
🤔’have I done enough with them’
🤔’Is this woods picnic again enough (because money was scarce) going to create good memories’
🤔’I bet all the other kids have done bigger and better things’

I wish now that I hadn’t carried so much guilt and worry then and trusted myself more…… so thank you Dr Tuesday 🙏 for these posts as it may help just one mum today to know that they are doing enough 🦋

Can any of you share your Eclipse photos here because I annoyingly didn’t get the glasses and I then read that you shouldn’t look through your eyes or phone.
Felt a bit silly going out into the street with the collider idea so tried to go with the looking through the trees idea….. but saw nothing 🙈☀️🌕

Do you struggle accepting a compliment from others?
I have been thinking about self-esteem a lot this week, and taking a compliment was one of the things I struggled with.
Here are 5 signs you might have low self-esteem without realising it

For me, low self-esteem didn’t look like a lack of confidence. I have always been sociable, caring, strong and capable, but I always quietly doubted myself. Some of these behaviours were clues that I wasn’t always feeling as good about myself as I appeared. I wasn’t pretending or faking it but had this sort of self doubt bubbling away

Take a minute to see if any of these feel familiar, because I think that self-awareness can be such an important first step 🦋

Love some HELP with this from you guys!!
My plants are producing so many this year and would love suggestions what I can do with them.
I am picking this amount most days and super grateful but don’t want to waste them.
🍅 I am freezing them
🍅 Using in salad, and on toast
🍅 Gifting a bag to clients

I did see something about pickling them but don’t like the idea of that.

Your suggestions of uses or recipes would be gratefully welcomed 🦋

I have found that we can be quick to notice what we don’t like about ourselves.
🦋I should have done better.
🦋Why did I say that
🦋I’m not good enough.
🦋Everyone else seems to have it together.

But imagine a friend came to you feeling exactly the way you sometimes feel about yourself.
Would you speak to them in the same way?
Would you tell them they are not good enough?
Or would you offer them kindness and reassurance?

Maybe it’s time to start offering yourself some of that same compassion.
Building your self-esteem can start with noticing the way we speak to ourselves… and choosing a kinder response.
Today, try to catch one thought about yourself and ask:-
Would I say this to someone I care about?
It also might help to think would you write in your own journal today🤍

Two photos……Both smiling. Both looking confident. Both looking like I knew who I was and where I was going.
BUT……… they actually tell two very different stories.

In the first photo I was 22 and working as a legal secretary in London.
If you met me then, you probably wouldn’t have noticed that I had very little confidence, I doubted my myself and didn’t believe I was good at anything.

The second photo was taken at a surprise family gathering to celebrate me completing five years of training to become a therapist.
And this time, that smiling woman was different. I genuinely liked the person looking back at me. I still have many fears but I believed in myself.
I was proud of my many achievements
and, perhaps most importantly, I had learned to value myself.

Looking at these two photos now, reminds me how easy it is to make assumptions about someone from the outside.
We can see the smile, the confidence and the person who seems to have it all together.
BUT WHAT WE CAN’T SEE are the thoughts, doubts and battles that are happening underneath.
We just never really know what someone else is carrying within them.

So if any of this feels familiar, I want to share with you:-
Try not to judge your worth by what you see in the mirror.
Sometimes the biggest changes aren’t visible on the outside.
They happen quietly, within us. 🦋

Years ago, a friend told me that she felt I suffered from low self-esteem.
To be honest I was a little shocked as it was something I had never considered about myself.
I knew I had survived my fair share of challenges, so I felt I was strong.
I have always loved people, so I felt I was confident.
And I am part of a large, lively family where I have my place within it so I felt adaptable

So, feeling a little confused, I remember doing a search… and getting that feeling in my tummy when what I was reading started to make complete sense.
I began to realise that even the most confident, caring and successful people amongst us can find it hard to feel OK and ‘good enough’. And sometimes, feeling OK about ourselves can be an uphill struggle.

Over the years, I did lots of things to help build my self-esteem and work on this area, and I can genuinely see the difference in myself.
That certainly doesn’t mean I never slip or doubt myself though……
but I feel that I notice it much quicker now and have compassion towards myself now.

But self-awareness and acceptance were definitely the first steps for me 🤍🦋

I wonder have you ever discovered something about yourself that made you think, “Oh… that actually makes sense”?

So I finally made the decision to have an air conditioning unit fitted❄️
My garden cabin is well made, and usually stays comfortable throughout the year……
BUT this summers extended hot weather has brought a few challenges some afternoons

I had absolutely no idea what I wanted or needed but Dan was so helpful talking me through what would work best for my needs. He was professional, tidy, knowledgeable and done such a neat job….. he even hoover my cabin 🙌

I am very much looking forward to being able to sit with my clients in a cool, comfortable cabin, whatever the weather next week 🤍🦋

Thank you M3-AC for making the whole process so easy ❄️

🌸Which Flower are you today?
I love a check in as it can tell us where we are at and what we need rather than going on alto pilot or an expectation.

I have noticed that some of my Sundays are all about walks, gardening or housework and then others are about resting and recharging.
There isn’t a right way to feel but I think it is worth checking in to see what your mind, body or soul may need after the past week

I would love to know….
Which Flower you are by popping the number in the comments if you would like to join in. No explanations needed (unless you want to share!).

Wherever you are today, I hope you can find the same kindness to yourself, that you so often offer to others 🦋

A little bit of fun, laughter and nostalgia yesterday with some of my favourite people 🤍
It was one of those days that reminds me that we don’t need anything fancy to have such a fun day

I enjoyed a day out at Bean Woods with all 5 of my grandchildren and one of my daughters just having picnics, climbing and a very enthusiastic game of an old Girl Guide favourite… Kick the Can! 😂

What made it extra special for me was that I used to bring my own children here during the school holidays when they were little.
So I found myself watching my grandchildren playing in the same place, while remembering my own children doing exactly the same thing all those years ago.

Life changes, children grow up, families get bigger… but some places hold onto special memories for us don’t they.
And sometimes the simplest days end up being the ones we remember most.

I wish you a lovely Saturday and maybe found a little time for some of that simple fun🦋
