Offers requested for stock
The administrators of the estate of Rob Cross seek offers for the entire stock of vinyl, CDs and DVDs at Revolutions Records in Scarborough, to be received by midnight 9th November.

Thank you to everyone's kind messages, cards and comments regarding Rob, they have brought great comfort to the family. Also for your very generous donations at the funeral, Rob's daughter Zoe will be passing these to Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary tomorrow. £214.45 was raised. Much love, Ali.

Hi it's Rob's sister Ali. I've managed to access his facebook and as much as I'd like to seek little sister revenge by posting Spice Girls' videos, sadly instead, I'm ensuring everyone knows his funeral details.
1 p.m. Friday 10th October at Woodlands Crematorium. No flowers or fuss but it would be wonderful to see people in their favourite band t shirts. Thank you x

Attention, fellow retailers and record fair dealers. Fake Scottish £20 notes (Clydesdale version) doing the rounds again. Little sc**te tried to pass me one when buying a pound Diana Ross single, expecting 19 quid change in real money.... yeah, right.
As soon as I touched it, I knew it was dodgy, no texture whatsoever. He f**ked off sharpish when I challenged him.

Whitby Wildlife charity shop got stung by similar the other day, how low are some people?

In an attempt to rub shoulders with such corporate giants like Nike, Super Dry and Gucci, Revolutions is putting out its own designer wear. Be the coolest dude* on the street with our latest Clock Tower graphic logo on high quality Fruit of the Loom T shirts and tote bags. Unlike the big evil conglomerates, we will not be selling these at a profit, just the original wholesale cost, any rounding up pence will go to Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary.

I delayed purchasing Record Collector's
Rare Record Price Guide 2026 on its release due to a few unfavourable reviews. Saw it with one online shop at 33% mark down last week, so took the plunge. Mmm.... disappointing.
Firstly, they've ditched the traditional black cover for white with gold lettering, might look nice on the bookshelf but for us shop owners and record fair dealers using it on daily basis, this is going to get grubby pretty quick.

There is a new editor to boot, after nearly 20 years at the helm Ian Shirley has handed over to Daryl Easlea and I detect quite a change in the listings. It now seems to be pandering to this new industry manufactured rarities such as Record Store Day and mega artists putting out the same album on an assortment of coloured vinyl, Taylor Swift section stretches over 3 pages! (she didn't have one listing in the 2024 book).

These new listings are at the expense of obscure UK punk/prog/psych bands who have had their sections truncated. These are the real, collectable records in my opinion, not some major corporate label luring in the gullible for a cash in.

Have we come to a watershed in the Price Guide no longer being the Holy Bible of Record collecting? Ebay is rubbish for price comparison and evaluation but I am noticing both customers and dealers turning to Discogs, it's more immediate and its algorithm fluctuates almost daily for, low, median and high price values.

I remember buying the RC 1994 book on first publication and it got thumbed to death, more sellotape used holding it together than WH Smith stock. This 2026 version is not going to get anywhere near that use.
Sad.

Stocked up for summer. New and used vinyl, Metal, Punk, Soul, Folk, Dance, Classical .... even some Country and Western (but you have to go through the leopard enclosure to get to it).

CDs galore, books, t shirts and local hand made clothing, other bits and bobs as well.

Just to clarify the shop's situation and quell the current rumour. Yes, Revolutions is looking to relocate to Whitby but as of yet, we haven't found a suitable premises.
So, no, the move is not taking place until we find somewhere that suits our needs, could be ages away yet.

So, we are still here in Scarborough for all your (fantastic and awful) musical choices.

ALL GONE NOW

PA clearout.

Due to needed space in the shop, we are having a purge on a lot of our sound gear.
These items have more than paid for themselves over the years, so we are giving them away FREE to Scarborough community groups or educational establishments. Any bands or artists interested, we will only be asking for donations to Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary.

All of this gear is in excellent condition, used by both professional and amateur artists over the years. As well as the items pictured, there are several Shure and Behringer mics, speakon and jack leads, 12 gang xlr multicore, mic and speaker stands and a large aluminium flight case.

Items pictured:

Alto RMX 1008 (2 x 500w) 8 xlr/jack input, speakon/jack out. Fabulous piece of kit, ideal for club venues.

Ibiza SLK8A, powered speaker. 2 jack, rca and USB inputs. Speakon out. Suit solo artist, remarkably loud for its size.

Peavey XR886 powered mixer, 16 input. Looks like something out of the original Star Trek but a classic piece of kit. Both live and recording usage. Been used by lots of bands in rehearsals for perfecting their live sound. Bloody heavy in weight though.

Soundlab G097 power amp. 2 x 90w. Reliable little item which we used for passive monitors.

Peavey MP600, 6 jack/xlr mixer plus rca inputs. Surprisingly loud 2 x 80w. With matching speakers, suit pub and cafe type settings. Lovely piece of kit.

Peavey Impulse 1012 passive speakers.
Weather proof, nigh on indestructible. 2000w plus handling power.

Ashton MS15 single passive speaker. 600w handling. This was one our backup speakers, don't think we ever used it. As good as new.

Kustom KSC 12MP active stage monitors x2. Perfect working order despite endless drunken punks spilling their beer on them.

In the spirit of Christmas rampant, unfettered commercialism, Revolutions will be open both Sunday 15th and 22nd of December. We will also be open Christmas Eve for all those last minute rash, ill thought out and plain daft purchases. Also open Boxing Day for when you try to return them and we pretend we have never seen you before.

Many thanks to Anne Marie from Clock Tower Studios for designing our new logo. This will feature on promotional t shirts and tote bags in the new year.

Clock Tower have also produced a 2025 calendar featuring 11 of the best record shops in Yorkshire, (the twelfth is the one on Huntriss Row with that misanthropic owner who just plays shouty music). The calendar is wall mounted, A4 size, high quality 200gsm paper with spiral binding and hanging hole. An excellent gift for any vinyl lover or record collector.
