Step back over 200 years to a Geography Text book for schools and young persons dated 1815 by the Rev. J. Goldsmith. This was in fact a pseudonym for the radical publisher and writer Sir Richard Phillips (1767 - 1840). Phillips authored highly successful educational books using his pen name; his life and times is also worth studying. Published at a time when Australia was called New Holland and the westward expansion across across the American continent. Whilst its calf leather binding might have seen better days (and makes this a perfect project for restoration) the illustrations are as beautiful as the day they were printed with a touch of page tanning due to age. This book is offered for sale for £50.00 (in very good condition its value would be £85) For collectors of antique books, those interested in the history of education or anyone who loves geography - this is a wonderful book to own and we have so many more equally as beautiful antique books to browse. Both The Book Warren and Castle Gilmour Antiques are Open 10am to 4pm today and Sunday.
