To kick off English Wine Week (20-28 June), we are welcoming Kent’s Phillip Watts to the shop for a free tasting you do not want to miss.

Bonjour, Sandwich! 🇫🇷✨

Le Weekend is nearly here, bringing medieval re-enactments, a bustling French market, live music and Le Tour de Sandwich to our streets. Knights, croissants, cycling and culture – there really is something for everyone.

And for wine lovers, we have something to add to the celebrations, too! 🍷

Yesterday, we hosted a brilliant tasting with the team from Domaine Gayda | Domaine viticole dans l’Aude – a celebrated winery in the Languedoc with a rather special Sandwich connection, co-founded by local man Tim Ford. Big thanks to James Harvey for hosting with such expertise and passion.

During the tasting, one bottle stood out above the rest – La Minuette. Naturally, we thought: why not make it our Wine of the Week?! Pop in to try it and you will see exactly why.

To celebrate, we have also given our shop window a beautiful summery, Gayda-branded makeover – bright, French and full of seasonal charm 🌞

So as the town embraces Le Weekend, pop in and grab a bottle to celebrate. Santé! 🥂

🇮🇹 La Dolce Vita – 9 July, 18:30
A delicious journey from the crisp elegant whites of the north to the bold sun-drenched reds of the south. Italy has a wine for every soul, and we are pouring our way through the lot. Salute!

🇿🇦 The South African Takeover – 16 July, 18:30
The brilliant Ian Haggie from .uk is back, and this one always sells out fast. A stunning selection of South African gems, new arrivals and unmissable wines from one of the world’s most exciting wine nations.

🍇 It’s a Pinot Thing – 30 July, 18:30
Noir, Blanc, Meunier, Gris – the Pinot family is vast, fascinating and thrillingly diverse. Join us for an evening dedicated entirely to exploring every branch of it.

All evenings are £35 per person and held at 6 New Street, Sandwich, CT13 9AB. Spaces are limited and they will go fast.

The longest day of the year is almost here, and Sandwich is celebrating in style! ☀️🍷

On Saturday 20 June – the summer solstice and the longest day of the year – selected shops across Sandwich will be open late, including us.

We will be open until 8:00pm (our usual Saturday hours, as it happens), so there is absolutely no excuse not to pop in, pick up a brilliant bottle and give the longest day of the year the send off it deserves.

🇫🇷🍷 Earlier this week we had the pleasure of hosting our Classic France tasting through the most iconic wine regions France has to offer.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to the brilliant Charlie Croft of for hosting with such knowledge, passion and warmth. And of course, a massive thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a wonderful night.

Here is what we poured on the evening:

🥂 Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc de Blancs
Elegant, fresh and beautifully precise – citrus, brioche and fine bubbles. The perfect opener.

🤍 Piquepoul – Foncalieu
Crisp, zesty and coastal. Classic Piquepoul at its most refreshing and irresistible.

🤍 Jaffelin Rully White
Elegant, precise and a beautiful expression of white Burgundy from one of the Côte Chalonnaise’s finest producers.

🤍 À La Rêverie White, Côtes du Rhône
Organically farmed, fresh and charming. Dreamy by name, dreamy by nature.

🍷 Domaine Bachey-Legros – Maranges
Pinot Noir with real finesse and a genuine sense of place. Burgundy at its most compelling.

🍷 Château Chapelle d’Aliénor – by La Gaffelière, Bordeaux Supérieur
Black cherry, ripe raspberry and a touch of vanilla. Accessible Bordeaux from one of Saint-Émilion’s most celebrated estates.

🍷 Injuste – Corbières
Intensely fruity, velvety and irresistible. The name means “unjust” – because there is simply never enough of it.
