Poor Olive ❤️

Our little Olive is now 3 years old and recently we've noticed she's started showing signs of arthritis. She's been doing a little bunny hop when she walks, which was our first clue that something wasn't quite right.

After doing some research, I discovered that ex-breeder guinea pigs can sometimes be more prone to developing arthritis at a younger age. One theory is that having multiple litters can put extra demands on the mother's calcium stores, which may affect them later in life.

The good news is that we've caught it early and it looks like Olive will be starting anti-inflammatory medication to help keep her comfortable and active. 🐹

It's always hard seeing our piggies get older, but we're determined to give Olive all the love, care and support she needs. She may be a little slower these days, but she's still as beautiful and loved as ever. 💕

Welcome to Toffee Apple Pets. 🩷🐹

This is where our story began.

Back in 2021, Toffee Apple Pets started with one very special guinea pig called Toffee Apple. He was a chonky ginger Cuy Abyssinian with a little white lightning bolt on his head and a personality far bigger than himself.

When Toffee Apple crossed the rainbow bridge, we were left wondering what to do with all the love we still had for him. That love became creativity.

What began as handmade fleece accessories and guinea pig-themed gifts created in his memory slowly grew into Toffee Apple Pets. We started on Etsy before eventually moving to our own website, and every step of this journey can be traced back to one very special little piggy.

Run by Jon & Kitty, this account is home to our real guinea pigs, daily herd life, handmade accessories and the memories we've made along the way.

Over the years our herd has grown, changed and sadly said goodbye to some very special companions. While some piggies are no longer with us, their personalities and stories continue to live on through our photos, products and artwork.

You may have also found us through . The illustrations shared there are inspired by the real piggies who have been part of our lives over the years. Together, both accounts tell the story of our herd — one through real life and one through art.

We're passionate about helping people see guinea pigs for the wonderful animals they truly are. They are often misunderstood pets, and many spend far too long waiting in rescues for loving homes. Through our content, we hope to show just how funny, affectionate and characterful these little creatures can be.

Whether you've followed us for years or have only just found us, thank you for being here and helping us celebrate the piggies that inspired it all. ❤️

Real men love guinea pigs. 🐹❤️

Throwback to 2021 when Jon put on his Deadpool cosplay and Earl Grey stole the spotlight.

Over the years we've met so many guinea pig dads who absolutely adore their little furry companions, and honestly, we love seeing it.

Because guinea pigs don't care whether you're a superhero, a cosplayer, a builder, an artist, or anything else.

As long as the snacks keep coming.

Earl Grey certainly approved. ❤️
