One of our favourite places for lunch is the Ingram Cafe in the Ingram Valley.
They serve well made, homely things like soup, sandwiches, scones and cakes.
But the thing I love most is being able to sit outside at the tables in the small garden, listening to the birdsong of the garden birds in the surrounding trees.
If one is quiet and calm, the chaffinches will even come and perch on one's table while you are eating and wait patiently for crumbs. Over the years I've been able to capture some lovely photos of these brave little birds.
This is the first time I've translated one into a painting. I've perched it on the branch covered in plum blossom- based on the small plum tree in my garden.
