It’s been a busy weekend for Phil with him fishing 2 matches this weekend, first he headed to Rutland Water followed by Llyn Clywedog Trout Fishery.

Rutland Water.

After fishing both the north and south arms on the practice day Phil decided to head to Old Hall flats on match day, the set up was a di3 with a candy blob top dropper Phil’s Tequila b***y on the point and a hares ear middle, after taking 3 fish after 2 hours it was time to move after working the water all the way up to the bund wall where no one was really catching. It was a long drive but headed to Whitwell frontage and it was worth it same cast and straight away into fish, 40 minutes later and landing a double up and his first ever 3 fish on 1 cast he was bagged up at 13:57 to take 2nd place along with the team qualifying for the final on October.

Llyn Clywedog

After a long drive and a few beers with the Fastmail team we turned up at a wet and cold Clywedog for the first league match. Luckily my boat partner had practiced so we headed down towards the sailing club where straight away into fish was into fish. I set up a di5 sweep with cormorants and a sparkler on the point and stayed on it all day just fishing long drifts out on open water. I had an amazing day landing 25 fish and taking 1st place with the team taking 2nd a great start to the league for Team Fastmail.
