It’s a big week this week, loads of new releases, new in back catalogue so here we go, no time to talk about what we all had for breakfast. Had a visit from the artisan bakery lady today though with some delicious cake. It’s a long one, have a nice drink of beer or wine and here we go..

First up Tara Clerkin Trio as per last post - Somewhere Good. Lucky says V Good.

Slift- Fantasia Loser vinyl edition. Haven’t heard this, but tomorrow Corduroy Simon is the stand in Saturday Lad and he will no doubt have this on the deck.

Jalen Ngonda- Doctrine of Love. Lovely lad, nice voice, old school soul vibes, my girls like him a lot.

J Jazz- Deep Modern Jazz from Japan. Vol 5 Triple LP. Nice.

Clock DVA Thirst with extras. Still got my original copy of this from back in the day. I’m guessing about 1980. Big news at Redruth school it was.

Lee Scratch Perry and Mouse on Mars- Spatial no Problem.

Ezra Collective -CHP VII ten anniversary reissue.

Martin Denny Quiet Village reissue

DJ Seinfeld -If this is it on Ninja Tune

Four Tet repress of Sixteen Oceans

Bedouine -Neon Summer Skin. Saw her playing in Falmouth a while ago. Lovely

Plus as recommended by Mr Chris S My Precious Bunny LP on Bella Union. One of Penelope isles solo LP

I am going on a very long journey tomorrow. Mr Corduroy Simon will be in the shop, come and see him. He will have coffee. He will not have Hevva Cake.

Wall of New Special 2.

Lucky’s LP of the Week this week is the Tara Clerkin Trio’s Somewhere Good. If you know the previous couple of EPs you know what to expect. It’s the sadness of kicking up the brown leaves on your own in Autumn and the joy of a lovely Mojito on the back porch as the sun sets. It’s quite lovely.

Available Friday….

Wall of New Special. Out this week J Jazz Volume 5.

How are you today? Good I hope. I’ve been eating a lot of tinned fish for my lunches in the shop, now I fear I have mercury poisoning. Maybe it will counteract the gout I fear I have from red wine drinks. I’m going back to pasties and cakes. I fancy a nice piece of heavy cake, maybe the artisan baking lady will drop some in this morning as she cycles to work.

Here is the first of this weeks new releases.

“BBE Music’s J Jazz Volume 5 closes the celebrated series with another deep exploration of Japanese jazz from the late 1960s to the late 1980s. Compiled by Tony Higgins and Mike Peden, this final instalment moves through jazz-funk, fusion, soul jazz and rare private press discoveries, reflecting the era’s adventurous spirit.”

Is what it says on the official bumf. Get in quick or shout.

See you later. Coffee and Hevva Cake at 11.

Good Morning People,

It’s a bumper week of new releases, no time for how are you today posts. If you going to The Great Estate, pop in and buy some records, enjoy yourselves, I’ve had some lovely times there, but this year I’m giving it a miss.

First up it’s Boards of Canada, Inferno. We have the deluxe version and it will be on the instore turntable bang on 11 o clock. Come and have a coffee and listen, maybe I’ll get some biscuits. Maybe I’ll tell the story about being introduced to BOC in the mid late 90s when I was out having a drink with Freddy Fresh. That’s it actually there’s no more to that story. I can’t even remember why I was out having a drink with Freddy Fresh. Anyway first new BOC LP for 13 years. We are excited.

Next up Paul McCartney, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. Limited Pink vinyl. Paul probably wished he released his LP last week, he’s probably cursing BOC, stealing his thunder. Anyway we still love Paul Mc and will be saving this for later.

Soul Jazz first ever release gets a reissue London Jazz Classics. Do not expect “Jazz” and no one is from London. A mix of jazz dance and fusion, funk, Brazilian and Latin grooves. The Sound of the Summer. I’ll be playing this later on my back porch with a daiquiri to see in the evening, maybe some fresh tuna and a piquant salsa verde. Ummm I can’t wait.

Smashing Pumpkins Gish reissue.

Funk the Reggae Beat. Funk inspired reggae from Trojan.

Gigi Mason- Movement Italian Ambient geezer

Kurt Vile- Philadelphia’s been good to me. Double on transparent blue.

Habibi Funk magazine Spotlights. In depth look at the Habibi Funk world. A4 88 pages.

Te Deum by The James Taylor Quartet.

I think that’s it, I’ve got to run Freddy Fresh is on the phone after my flatbread recipe.

See you later today.

Apologies. Tuesday 26th May the shop is closed.

We’ve come on holiday by mistake.

I will be back on Wednesday and if you didn’t come in at the weekend there are lots of new second hand to look through once I find space for them in the shop. I will also be playing my buys from a visit to yesterday. It took me a while to get there in the blazing heat but I have some nice records to bring home.

Massive thanks to and Cat for delicious food and company over the last couple of days.

See you on Wednesday.

Morning mates,

I’m in a rush got to get in and sort records for today’s Folk Fayre . It’s gonna be a lovely day. And the shop is open with mr behind the jump, as no one calls it. We will both have a load of new in second hand. New releases as shown here will be in the shop. Visit us both. Passman will give you a nice cup of coffee, he’ll probably have oat milk as well, what with being a vegan and that. Anyway here’s the Wall of New.

First off it’s me holding the Clubbed to Death records from the Mo’ Wax collection which has pretty much all sold now. Clubbed to Death #2 was one of my favourites from the mid 90s up there with the best Mo Wax stuff (In/flux, WDYSLL) and this is still available as is the DJ Krush LP which is also *fairly* pricey.

New in ..
Amyl and the Sniffers Giddy up first two eps put together
Brown Spirits #1,2,3 . As per previous post
Tommy Guererro Soul Food Taquira originally on Mo Wax, reissued by
Brother Wallace -Electric Love New Soul banger check it out.
Jeff Parker -Happy Today on
SFA- Early demos and stuff with cd
MF Doom/Czarface.
New Hannah Peel and Hillbillies in Hell comp Ring of Fire

What a time to be alive. I’m running late, sorry for rushing through them.

Oh and William Onyeabor and King Gizz reissues.

Go Easy, Step Lightly, Stay Free.

A Wall of New One Off Special.

Brown Sprits #1, #2, #3

Released on Friday and deleted on Friday. 500 copies of each available worldwide. Their last couple of LPs sold quickly here.

Here’s what the official bumf says.

“Brown Spirits play raw energetic super-charged psychedelic rock heavily influenced by krautrock, space rock, free-jazz and deep funk music from the 1970s that gives them a truly unique and highly-addictive sound. The group record and mix their own music to ¼-inch analogue tape at home maintaining a strictly DIY-ethic. Brown Spirits are Tim Wold, Agostino Soldati and Ash Bushcombe”

Nice.

Available on Friday.

Good Morning,

Welcome to The Wall of New.

Pictured are a young Lucky, my brother Sean and our cousin Kyen, who is rocking an early version of the asymmetric haircut like Phil Oakey out of The Human Beings, only years before Phil. “One day Lucky, this will all be yours” one of them is saying. We are wearing Hush Puppies, at least I don’t have a sailors suit on. Simpler times etc etc.

Anyway new in.

The Beach Boys. The Pet Sounds Highlights with a lovely free double sided poster for you. Pet Sounds widely acknowledged as an absolute classic, everyone rates it, apart from those saddos who say they prefer Surf’s Up or worse still Sunflower. It’s the sound of Summer, no peaty whisky in front of the fire for this, it’s a sand between your toes, glass of rosé on the verandah classic.

Kevin Morby’s New one Little Wide Open. Little mix vinyl/signed edition.

Ween Quebec is in and White Pepper from last week which I forgot to mention.

Rebel Island Soul Another banger from Soul Jazz 70’s souls, Reggae and Funk tunes from Jamaica.

Another audiophile Donald Byrd release . the Cat Walk on Blue Note

Plus a new box of second hand out this week. See you later. It’s a lovely day. Just bring your little smiling faces.
