A quick little mention of something we’re really pleased to have in at Village Fabrics 🧵

We’ve brought in four fabrics designed by our friend John Scott. Yvonne has known John through Sewing Street for years now, but like most good sewing friendships, it’s gone far beyond just work along the way.

We’ve shared plenty of laughs over the years, so it’s nice to be able to have something of his in the shop at last.

We’re so pleased to see this wonderful exhibition from Quilts 4 You is at Worcester Cathedral this week.

The group brings people together through quilting, working alongside refugees to create beautiful quilts while building skills, confidence and community. If you’re in Worcester, it’s well worth a visit.

Worcestershire Welcomes Refugees Quilting Exhibition
📅 Saturday 13 - Sunday 21 June | Chapter House

From 13 - 21 June, the Chapter House will host a vibrant exhibition of quilts as part of Refugee Week (15–21 June). The exhibition is being coordinated by Worcestershire Welcomes Refugees and will showcase work created by Quilts 4 You, a small group dedicated to making quilts for charitable causes.

Quilts 4 You also run a weekly workshop in Evesham, working with refugee women to develop sewing and quilting skills. Pieces created through these workshops will be included in the exhibition, highlighting
both creativity and community.

To mark the opening of the exhibition, Worcestershire Welcomes Refugees will be hosting a day of drop-in activities in the Chapter House on Saturday 13 June, 11am - 3pm. All are warmly invited to come along and take part in textile workshops provided by Worcester Craftivists, CWLC Design & Technology Dept, Worcester Arts Collective and poetry on the hour by
Worcestershire LitFest and Fringe

The Very Revd Dr Stephen Edwards, Dean of Worcester, said:
“We are delighted to host this exhibition, which brings together creativity, compassion and community in such a meaningful way. These quilts are not only beautiful works of art but also powerful expressions of welcome, care and shared humanity. It is a privilege to provide a space where these stories and skills can be celebrated, particularly during Refugee Week.”

A date for your diary! 🧵

From Friday 26th to Sunday 28th June, we'll be at the Craft Showcase at Carterton Community Centre.

We're now firmly settled in Worcestershire, but after more than 20 years in Oxfordshire it's always nice to have an excuse to come back and see some familiar faces.

We'll have plenty of fabrics, kits, patterns and project inspiration with us, so if you're visiting the fair, please pop by and say hello.

It’s my birthday this weekend 🎂

Reading Hamnet has definitely inspired me, I suddenly really want to visit the historic houses in Stratford. Slightly embarrassing that I’ve lived nearby for over a decade and still haven’t properly explored them, so I’m finally going to put that right.
