Update on Redcar Train Station Redevelopment and business opportunities via the Rediscover office
Progress is being made on the Redcar Station Redevelopment!
The Grade II listed Victorian Station is currently receiving a very much needed redevelopment with the Station building and shed sympathetically being restored to its former glory. We are currently exploring potential uses for the revamped station but expect a mix of daytime and evening uses such as:
Rail uses - Covered waiting area, automatic ticket machines, rail and other live transport information.
Other uses - Bar, restaurant, shops, café, flexible spaces, markets, events, community activities, flexible workspaces, Toilets (including accessible spaces and changing facilities).
If you are interested in obtaining a space in the finished project, please contact Gavin Black of Naylors Gavin Black:

Construction Progress:
Works are continuing to progress well on the project. The external scaffolding has now been erected to the central building to allow the roof tiles to be stripped in order to repair the roof structure.
Internally all the old units from the engine shed have been demolished and a scaffold has been erected to facilitate the removal of the roof and refurbishment of the steel roof trusses.
As part of the project, we are required to work Railside under a rail possession. Rail possession is when a section of a railway is taken over for maintenance or construction work, which requires the track to be temporarily closed to trains. This is done to ensure the safety of workers and to minimise disruption to passenger and freight services. It is managed by Network Rail in collaboration with the operators of the line and the engineers / contractors who take “possession”, this is carried out on a Saturday Night from 11.30pm through to Sunday morning 08.45am.
This work will be limited to only what is necessary, and noise will be kept to a minimum. Three ‘possessions’ have been completed to date to erect the external roof scaffolding edge protection. The scaffolding will continue along with the commencement of repointing this weekend.
We also ask businesses to have their say on this, and any other developments currently taking place by completing this survey:
As part of the delivery of Redcar Town Deal, we are keen to gather thoughts and feedback from its businesses to measure whether Town Deal projects are having a positive or negative impact. Please complete the online survey to share your thoughts. Please press 'TAKE
