📣📣Public Service Announcement: Beware of fake strings!📣📣
We've had a customer bring in a pack of ""Ernie Ball"" strings. They were, to us, clearly fake, so we thought we'd show you how to spot them!
First, the real deal has a lustrous and glossy look to it, compared to the far more fluorescent and matte finish on the fakes.
Next, the serrations on the top and bottom of the packs are finer and smaller on the definite article.
The text is another key indicator, the spacing is neat and using bespoke fonts, compared to the more generic fonts on the copies.
Finally, the quality. Real Ernie Balls are made from high quality materials and manufacturing to keep you playing your best. We're no metallurgy experts, but we'd bet our working experience in this industry that these knock-offs are made from subpar materials that aren't good enough to claim the name on the packet.
This is one of the reasons we bang our drum about face-to-face retail from shops with physical presences. These fakes will be sold cheap on certain online retailers using the images of the real thing, seemingly too good to be true. They'll break at the first juncture, damaging the brand with their inferior quality. Buy the real thing, from real shops that deal with the real suppliers of Ernie Ball, and enjoy the real quality that they actually make!
