The other day… a guy told me our mugs were overpriced.
And it shouldn’t bother me… but it does 😅
I’d quite like that guy to walk in here and make me one cheaper, to be honest… 😂
But it did get me thinking that maybe we don’t shout enough about what actually makes a Glosters mug special.
1 — They’re LIGHT.
Ain’t no chunky mugs here, guys!
When we first set about making our mugs, we knew we wanted them to look substantial, but feel light in your hand. And that’s exactly what we’ve worked hard to achieve.
2 — That thin lip 🤌
Come on now! We owned a café and served all our tea in bone china teacups… a Glosters mug was NEVER going to end up with a big chunky rim.
That thin lip makes all the difference when you drink from it.
3 — The glazes. The patterns. The choice!
Every season we go to town creating new colours, glazes and patterns. We design collections we love, and hopefully mugs you’ll want to collect year after year.
4 — And here’s the deal breaker, guys…

Every. Single. One.
From a bag of raw clay to the finished mug in your hands, we make it here.
We don’t ship them in from Portugal.
We don’t mass-produce them in Indonesia.
We make them right here in Porthmadog, North Wales. 🏔️
We design the patterns.
We choose and develop the glazes.
We make every mug.
And we start making them MONTHS in advance so each collection is ready for the season ahead.
There are very few companies in Britain — let alone Wales — still doing what we do.
So when you buy a Glosters mug, you’re not just buying a mug.
You’re buying something that’s been designed, made, glazed, fired, handled and packed by real people, right here in our little pottery in North Wales. 💖
