Hazel Artichoke Basket Workshop
This was a two day workshop where the students (all male which is a first on a basketry course here!) made these beautiful Hazel baskets.
They de barked, split and prepared the Hazel using penknives, billhooks and drawknives and then assembled their beautiful baskets all under the guidance of Mike
We’ll be running another one of these next year so do let me know if you’re interested in the next dates!

Wood Fired Cooking Workshop
Friday 16th October
Come along and spend the day working hands on with Dan Cuss Dan Cuss a professional chef and expert in wood fired cooking.
Together you will learn everything the flames have to teach including wood selection, how to light and manage your fire, wood types and how to get the best results from wood fired cookery, plus a whole lot more.

You will prepare a Sussex venison shoulder to slow cook with some foraged herbs and berries. While that’s ticking over you’ll discuss the principles of cooking over fire then learn how to cook various seasonal vegetables and how to cook fish on a wooden plank. You will then use what you have prepared to all enjoy an early dinner and talk about what you’ve done.
This will be a wonderful, inspiring and delicious day cooking outdoors with a lovely group of people.

What a fantastic course! And I can vouch for that as I was on it!! Couldn’t resist this one. I’ve known Dave Dave Jackson for over 15 years and knew that he was a skilled maker but having been on this course I couldn’t recommend it more highly! Such a fun group of people and we had a lot of fun making our beautiful chairs. This Saturday…Mini Ponier a Cou Workshop.
This is a one day course where participants will make a mini Guernsey Basket / Ponier a Cou. Claire is a fantastic teacher and she will be teaching the techniques to make one of these baskets which are now on the endangered heritage crafts red list.
This course is full but we do have two places available on the two day Guernesy Basket course on 14th/15th August so if you’d like to join us I’d encourage you to place your booking soon!
