I think I'm going to have to make some more.....

After the excessive rain over the last few days it was lovely to get out for a rather squelchy walk. I'm so lucky to have this park on my doorstep.
I was researching the autumn leaves for the big project I'm working on. I want to take the plain leaves and add the spots and colour changes with paint.
They will form the large vine, permanently part of the scenery in our local Christmas Pantomime "Sleeing Beauty and the Kingdom of Dreams"

🌱🧢🎭
After a break of a few years, I've gone back to another hobby of mine, amateur theatre and I'm getting involved with the scenery/props etc for our Pantomime at Christmas. Part of the permanent stage there is a large 10 ft bramble with thorns, which divides the baddie's Castle from the rest of the stage. When I enquired what the leaves were being made from there was a "card maybe or foam perhaps.. not really sure yet tbh" reply.....
Cue crazy crochet lady and her crochet leaves 🀣
The really good thing is I can use pva and water to stiffen them into any shape needed. They can have glitter or paint added. Really versatile addition to the stage portfolio πŸ˜†...
I'll keep you posted. Probably 20 or 30 leaves to be getting on with......

πŸ’–HAPPY GRANNY SQUARE DAY!πŸ’–
In honour of I made a granny square, decorated with mini granny squares, or as I like to call it the "Granny Squared" Square πŸ˜†πŸ‘Œ
I'm surrounded by granny squares at the moment and they're the best squishy crochet item.
Absolutely loving all of the squares on the grid πŸ‘

90 flowers for 90 years young and one of the loveliest ladies I've ever met.
5 months in planning, 8 weeks to make I'm definitely going to make more crochet flowers just maybe once I've got the feeling back in my fingers πŸ«£πŸ˜†
Considering they are generated randomly by the weather for the last 90 Aprils there's a lovely spread of colours and flowers.

Introducing the last 3 decades for the that I've made.
We have a family member turning 90 this month and every year we send her a bouquet of flowers for her birthday. This year I wanted to make something a little special and I had an idea of creating a bouquet of flowers using high and low temperatures for the 90 years since 1934. Therefore a "temperature bouquet"
Thanks to the historic temperatures available via the met office I compiled the average monthly temperatures for April for every year. There are 7 average low temperatures and 10 average high so I've taken these numbers and assigned a flower type to the low temperatures and a different colour to each of the high temperatures.
These three pictures show the last 30 years worth of flowers. If I was concerned that there wouldn't be much diversity I needn't have. Honestly the changeable and unpredictable British weather has delivered a beautiful mix of colours and flowers. The big damson star lily is a double one off. 2011 was the hottest minimum temperature of 8Β°C and the hottest maximum at 19Β°C
Stay tuned for the big full bouquet
Please note, these are not for sale they are part of a big project for a family 90th birthday.
I do not wish to have 12 or more messages within 5 mins asking if they're still available or how much they are because I just block these bots. Many thanks.

Stay tuned for the last groups they are just as beautiful!

PLEASE NOTE THESE FLOWERS ARE NOT FOR SALE Thank you 🩷

5 lily buds
1 calla lily
2 tulips and
1 fully opened lily and the flowers for the will be completed. I then need to do the leaves and stems.
Considering they are generated randomly by the weather for the last 90 Aprils there's a lovely spread of colours and flowers.
Each flower represents a year between 1934 and 2023. The average monthly low temperature denotes the flower and the average monthly high temperature then gives the colour for that flower...
There are 7 flower types and 10 colours and the hottest year so far in April was 2011.
The pink Calla lily is the year the recipient got married, 1956 so it's got a special gold stamen.
I've roped my daughter in to help with the hot glue gun (her skills are far better than mine) for attaching the roses, rosebuds and securing the lavender tops.
They are all picking up the scent nicely from the dried rose petals and lavender that they have been sitting in.
