💚 🐾 Caddi Update 🐾 💚

Sadly, this isn’t quite the update we had hoped to share, but thankfully Caddi still has options and a future ahead of her. ❤️

Caddi was admitted for surgery yesterday with the plan of being neutered and having her mammary mass removed. As part of the pre-operative investigations, chest X-rays were taken, as mammary tumours can sometimes spread to the lungs. There were a few small areas of concern visible, although these could just as easily be age-related changes rather than anything sinister. At this stage, we simply don’t know for certain.

When surgery began, Caddi unfortunately started to bleed profusely. Our experienced veterinary team made the difficult but sensible decision to stop the procedure rather than put her at unnecessary risk. While it wasn’t the outcome any of us wanted, we are incredibly grateful that her welfare was placed first. 🩺❤️

For now, Caddi is back with us and has been started on medication. The plan is to allow her body some time to recover and reassess her condition in 7–10 days before making decisions about a second attempt at surgery.

The wonderful veterinary nurses also made Caddi what they affectionately called a “boulder holder” 🤣 to help support her large lump until surgery can hopefully go ahead. Trust Caddi to return home with her own bespoke piece of veterinary fashion!
