As a long standing business Arlette Florist has been asked to join the Wagstaff team in celebrating the history of businesses in the community.

I won an Oscar! Well kind of 😀My 60 second talk at this mornings chamber of commerce breakfast was all about Arlette’s in the community.
A week or so ago a gentleman came into the shop to tell me how lovely the shop front looked and that the bows on the bollards make him smile. He said that Arlettes is an important business to the community.
Well that got me thinking about how we serve our local community.
We supply raffle prices to the local schools, charities, support the local amateur dramatics, judge the cut flower section at the Horticultural society’s summer show, in the 14 years We’ve had the shop we’ve had 13 secondary school students for their work experience, two apprentices, and numerous Plumpton college students for their placements.
On Monday I went back to the Newhaven young people’s forum where the youngsters made floral crowns and the above floral dress.
We serve people at the hardest times, the happiest times and all the bits in between.
My conclusion is that yes we are an important business to our community as I believe all small businesses are.

Last night I spent the evening with Newhaven young people’s forum. Such a great group of youngsters who took part in creating floral crowns and this floral dress which will be in the shop window tomorrow
