Craft Unlimited launched just 15 days ago.
In that time we've welcomed suppliers, brought familiar faces back to your screens, relaunched a dedicated YouTube channel, created a 24/7 craft hub online and started building something we genuinely believe the crafting community deserves.
We've seen plenty of comments about repeats, pre-recorded shows, broadcast times, selling and future plans, so we'd like to address a few of them.
The honest answer? Building a craft channel takes time.
Firstly, we're an independent, self-funded business with a team of 15 people. There isn't a huge corporation behind us; every new supplier, presenter, show and investment takes planning, time and money. That independence allows us to work closely with suppliers, listen to their needs and build partnerships that work for both their businesses and ours.
Many of the businesses we work with are small businesses too. Recording multiple shows in one day allows them to spend less time away from running their own businesses and ultimately allows us to bring more brands, products and personalities to your screens.
We've also seen comments from people who switch on and find handbags, household products or other categories being shown.
Craft Unlimited is part of Shop Unlimited. We have never claimed to be a dedicated craft-only channel. Craft programming currently airs every weekday from 9am–1pm, alongside the many other categories that help support the wider business. But of course we have created two other ways for you to continuously watch the craft shows you enjoy.
And yes, we are a shopping channel. Demonstrations, inspiration and education are incredibly important, but if products don't sell, there is no channel, no programming, no presenters and no future investment. Sales are what keep the lights on, support our suppliers and allow us to continue growing.
As for repeats, not everyone watches at the same time. A repeat for one person is a first viewing for somebody else, and many of our pre-recorded shows are brand-new to television audiences. We also make our craft content available to watch far beyond the TV schedule.
Will everything be perfect after 15 days? Of course not. But we're listening, we're learning and we're building.
There are plans, conversations and opportunities being worked on every single day. These things take time, investment and support.
We launched Craft Unlimited because we believed there was still a place for dedicated craft broadcasting and because we wanted to help fill a gap that many crafters told us they felt.
We're proud of what has been achieved in two short weeks, and we're even more excited about what's still to come.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us, watched, shopped and offered constructive feedback. We genuinely appreciate it.
