End of School year thank you gifts.
I know these are always listed as Teacher gifts but over the years I’ve made gifts for childminders, home Ed parents, lunch time supervisors, the Lollipop lady, all of the TAs, office staff and not forgetting a couple of care takers. Lots of people have different reasons for wanting to say thank you. All gifts are made to order and can be personalised so just let me know if you have any special requests.

The past few years have sent challenges for lots of small businesses Thimble hasn’t escaped them. I mentioned in my “Yay to ten years” post at the very start of this year that there would need to be a few changes.

Short explanation:

Prices of Materials/blanks have jumped so dramatically that unfortunately there are products Thimble will no longer be offering.

I will be focussing on the Portraits and a much smaller ranger of items over special gifting periods. I really am sad to have to make these changes but I really don’t have any other option.

The long Explanation:

The way it works with a large percentage of Thimble products is I buy in blanks to personalise, I tend to try have the most popular items in stock and often buying in bulk which helps keeps prices low.
Christmas then Mother’s Day cleared me out of a huge amount of that stock (thank you as always). It meant that up until this point the huge increase in the cost of these products hadn’t fully hit home.

One example of this is the wooden blanks and Free standing letters (which I’ve been offering since the very start of Thimble) these have jumped dramatically in price.
I’m aware that some people will still be happy to pay the extra but I’m also aware that such a huge price increase would mean the demand for some of these products will be dramatically less, I wouldn’t be able to justify buying in larger quantity or the cost of buying individually. Sadly it means I will be discontinuing a lot of these items.

Going forward the plan is to focus on portraits and then offer a small range of personalised products and a more edited selection of items during periods like, end of school year, Christmas, Mother’s & Father’s Day etc.

There are some items which I still have in stock and I will continue to sell them at the original price until they’re gone.

I hope that these change will mean Thimble can continue a while longer.

I can’t quite believe I am writing this but Thimble made it to 10 years old!

When I first started Thimble cross legged on our living room floor with a M toddling around I honestly had no idea it would make it this far.

Thimble was a way for me to be at home but still be contributing financially, a way for me to still be creative but also have the flexibility to be around for the bubs. It’s offered all of that and so much more.

This past year has been by far the hardest for so many small businesses and Thimble is no exception. Visibility has hugely reduced and with some of my costs almost 4 times what they were 18months ago, the next year will see a few changes, but hopefully changes that mean Thimble could be around for a few more years yet.

Anyway less of the gloom and yay for surviving a whole decade. None of which would be possible with out all of your continued support, Mr Thimbles patience & free child labour. 😆

I can’t thank you all enough for supporting me, so many of you have been around from the very start.
