Make Va**ng your New Year’s Resolution in 2020
New Year’s resolutions are famously as fragile as the hungover heads that concoct them after the overindulgence of the festive period. But with each new year representing a fresh canvas to paint our goals and aspirations upon, it’s natural to want to make the most of the opportunity to bury bad habits and foster healthy ones.
Sure, you could buy that expensive gym membership. You could commit to eating less meat or cutting out dairy. You could lace up those long-neglected trainers and brave the frigid winter at a stumbling run to shed those stubborn Christmas pounds. But if you really want to adopt ONE lifestyle change that can reap amazing benefits for your health in 2020, you only have to look to giving up smoking.
If you’re a smoker then you hardly need reminding of the harmful effects of ci******es on your health and well being. Ci******es are the leading cause of preventable illness and premature death in England, with about half of all life-long smokers dying prematurely. Smoking doubles the risk of heart attacks, causes 84% of deaths from lung cancer and increases the risk of stroke by at least 50%, among many other chronic and life-threatening ailments. And then there’s the toll that smoking takes on your finances and self-esteem, as the price of to***co climbs ever higher, and society’s opinion of smokers plummets ever lower.
