Today was supposed to be the unboxing stream for the linen kit, but unfortunately I was plagued by tech issues and then my bitrate was too low to stream, so instead you're getting lots of pictures and hopefully some pre-recorded video at a future date.

It took 3 days, but I finished my first attempt at a hand sewn box. This is a MTG deckbox for my friend's birthday made with 3mm greyboard and cotton with a magnetic stud closure. The only places I've used glue are to make sure the closure stays put, and for the two pillows attached to the inside of the lid.

Techniques are from Jackie Woolsey's book Making Hand-Sewn Boxes - Techniques and Projects. Fabric was a lucky find at the charity shop, as was the book.

It's not perfect, in future I'd increase the allowance between the inner and outer boxes to allow for the sewing bulk, and probably get some more practice in with pulling in my corners when fully covering a lid.

My piece in the exhibition at St Mary's Works, Norwich. The exhibition will be open every afternoon from 1pm to 6pm until the 25th of April.

"An art exhibition exploring the confusing navigation of the modern mental health system. We hope this space allows our experiences to be depicted to spark discussions in a part of health that is still considered taboo, stigmatised or unknown."

This exhibition contains sensitive topics that some may find upsetting; including themes of su***de, grief and psychological distress.
