The Belgian Project

The Belgian Project Contact Dany Tel: 0044 (0)7396520670 email: [email protected] What is the Belgian project about .. to develop these lads to the full!

it's about giving young cycling talent a chance of race in Europe ( Belgium) to gain valuable experience. This includes staying with guest families or supervised accommodation ..many friendships have been formed over the years...We select our graduates (between 4-6 each year ) during the first 6 months of the season We also give small bursary's (14 in 2019) to young riders who race abroad and pr

omote Irish cycling. We put these graduates in the ultimate shop window of cycling (The Flanders) We have achieved pro status for some or full-time riders ..many get invited back, and have or race for local top amateur teams since the start in 2008. We also have a media team who report on races through photographs, videos, and interviews, also doing event commentary on requests.. to highlight our independent sponsors and promote Irish cycling to the full. We are independent ..we can not be influenced by money donations (but gratefully except ) we work with volunteers who give up their free time to help out at stage races, etc.. We get advice from big names in the sport and coaches .. We are an all welcome project ..no matter who you are, what you believe in ..your legs will do the talking. We get supported by many local clubs in N-Ireland and local sponsors, but always look for added support from new sponsors...All our volunteers including principals are vetted (Child protection ) We select from all corners of Ireland and the Ulster regio (17-23 years old) ... As Bike Pure ambassador all our selections need to sign the "Code of Honour " LIVE THE DREAM " is our motto

- Some weeks ago Cycling Ulster announced that they would be promoting an Ulster Masters series to help stimulate and maintain road racing in our province.
We aim to give riders who may have stopped racing in the C3 category a chance to get out and enjoy the ‘race day’ experience that they may be missing.
This year the series will initially comprise 5 races primarily in the second half of the summer as this is where our entry numbers drop off. Full details on the Cycling Ulster website: https://www.cyclingulster.com/2026-ulster-masters-road

SUNDAY 31st May (PART 1) The 2026 *TOUR OF THE MOURNES* - Sponsored By Leprino and promoted by NewryWheelers CyclingClub ... One of the hardest races in the North, with climbing the Rathfriland Hill 6 times for the C1-C2's, and 4 times for the C3's and women. Plenty of volunteers to help out, helped by some other clubs made it a safe race, the weather was kind, sunshine and cloudy at times, but it stayed dry. Decent crowd at the finish line in Rathfriland witnessed a show of strength, mixed with pain to reach the finish line, the faces told the story ... Chris Dawson back from international MTB racing in Europe, surprised all of us, as this was his first road race in a long while, and certainly deserves the win as he worked hard all day, and kept the chasers at bay!! Paul Kennedy (Burren CC) was second, and comeback kid Gary Donaldson Caldwell Powerhouse Racing completing the podium. In the C3 race the honour went also to an off-road rider, Chris Oakley U/A Ulster took the hard win, Jamie Franklin VC Glendale was second and his team mate Gérard Craig 3rd. Gabrielle Fox. Toyota Valencia was 4th and winning lady!! Full results in PART 2... NewryWheelers CyclingClub never disappoint!!

Photos and provisional results (last 3 photos) of the Ernie Magwood Super 6 Time Trial League (10 TT) Round 2, at Frosses Ballymena this evening (Thursday 28th May)
A chilly evening due to a cold south east wind, but around 75 testers showed up, which is a massive entry, as it is known as the fastest TT circuit in the land... Ian Inglis (Powerhouse Sport) won it in an amazing 18:35 and Aliyah Rafferty back from International racing with her team DAS-Hutchinson was the first lady with a serious good time of 21:58. Please tag yourself, and my apologies to some riders I missed at the start line, I make it up next time, Dany B
